  6. So basically you're saying that you're quite happy for strange men to be seen carrying copious amounts of a white-powdery substance from your house?
  7. And yet you take issue with someone else who doesn't want to pay retail prices?

    pump wanted

Good stuff. I use an eheim with mine and it works well. These skimmers seem to prefer high pressure output pumps.

    pump wanted

Looks like a Berlin to me, but it's a bit tricky to tell from the picture. I don't think you'd need an air-pump for it, it automatically sucks air in through the tube. There should be a screw that constricts the airline tube, this will control the amount of air intake for the skimmer. Hope that helps.
  19. It had no affect on corals that I could see, but it didn't seem to help much with the whitespot problem.
  20. I tried this and it didn't work for me. I suppose one could argue that things may have been worse had I not used it. Hard to say. Let us know how it goes.
  21. I got a couple a while back. They were pretty shy in the beginning but are now out all the time. Really depends what you keep them with I suppose.
  22. Jansens voucher from the inlaws, guess we'll be seeing each other tomorrow
  23. During the holidays I'm planning on building a closed loop system out of some left over PVC and pumps I've got. I'd like the inlets and outlets the not be very visible, so have been thinking about painting them black to match my tank background. Would it be ok to have painted PVC in the system, or am I better off getting the dark coloured piping instead. Cheers
  24. I'm not against the use of vodka, like all things it has it's place. If I'm understanding you correctly you're going to try it as a method of nutrient control. That's fine. This will starve the algae out because their food source will be consumed by other things. When you stop dosing vodka you run the risk of ending right back where you are now, and having to repeat the nutrient cycle that lies ahead. Make sure you do your water changes, and at this point siphon some 'muck' out when you do. At this point it will have a far more dramatic impact on your tank than any kind of dosing will. If you are interested in dosing something have a look bacteria based supplements for nutrient control.
