  1. Is it possible to run the tank with out any external filteration??? There is no nitrate present and hasnt been for a long time. i will cut back on the shrimps, thanks. I also add reef plus to the tank. all corals and fish look good.
  2. Thanks. Do you mean electrical currents? And my tank does use canisters. two bigish ones. weve never had any problems until now. the fish get feed flakes (both vegitarian and marine) in the morning, and frozen brine and bloodworm at night, is this healthy enough?
  3. I have a coral beauty that has (what i think, from internet reasearch, is lateral line erosion) behind his eye sockets has begun to erode, but not on his lateral line. Aparantly this disease can occur in angels and tangs? but none of the tangs in the same tank have got it. Any help and advice would be very much appreciated!

    new tank

yea the casing for the filter is still on to make it look normal i have just taken out all of the baskets and pipeing.and i have cut holes in the back so skimmer and canister pipes could fit in. the skimmer is just hanging on the back. if you look closely in the first photo you can seee the pump for the skimmer in the water on the left hand side. then i have one canister drawing and returning water at each end, ( this helps with the flow), i also have a few powerheads in the tank moving more water around,(one big one behind the rocks on a spraybar). the suppliments i add are calcium strontium, iodide, and coral liquid food. this is the skimmer
  22. yep, i just had to cut a little grove in the plastic for it to fit well.
  23. mmm? i havnt eva had any nitrate or phosphate prolems. interesting. wat do you mean?

    new tank

i have the r2 150. i ditchd the trickel filter but i have kept the lights. i find that they work fine for heaps of corals
  25. the only changes to the lights i made was i changed the pink bulbs for white ones. yea i took the filter out of the back and cut into it for pipes and skimmer room. i think just the tank and stand was $1500. nd reach canister was $400 and the skimer $200. its just a simple setup
