  8. im not sure about maroons but i have paired up 2 pairs of ocelaris clowns with no prob. yea this is right, i have four clowns in a tank the largest is female and second largest male, (i hope  ) who have paired up, and then a pair of juviniles. the juviniles wont continue to grow in size until they need to move up the ranks.
  9. wats da balling method?
  10. i think they were about $80 each. they also hav a white reflector worth about $50, dont get it its a peice of crap!!!!! and it rusts like a beast
  11. yea i no, but its not just those its all corals in the tank. if anyone has any ideas on what else could be wrong please tell me. i dont really want to replce my lights.
  12. yea the swithed on gardener do sell those exact bulbs. i hav two of them over one of my reef tanks. i cant say that they are the best lights ever invented. they have a good colour and they look bright enough but the corals dont seem to be very happy under them. the mushrooms have no colour and have shrunk away, much like my purple star polyps. My colt corals are open with polyps extended but have not growen at all since they have been under these lights. for some reason it dosent seem like the light penetrates the water very well. although some of the problem may be my water quality, but its not that bad.
  13. yea i think a skimmer is the best option. il try get some photos up. whats a good level for phosphates?
  14. pics of what? i just ripped most of the alge out so the corals could be seen agen.
  15. yep i did it right, if you saw the amount of alge in the tank ud belive me. its aquarium pharmacuticals. haha ok ill use gren-x for that then. i think the fact that i have a skimmer suitibal for a 200l tank on my 1500l set up might have something to do with it!!!
  16. the reading for the test is off the chart. over 10.0ppm. its really out of control. i have some green-x in the sump, its supposed to remove nitrite nitrate and phosphate. isnt really doing the job though
  17. Any tips on reducing phosphates quickly? having real big problems with algae. does a protien skimmer help reduce phosphate?
  18. what exactly is the PAR rating?
  19. so would you go for 10,000k bulbs rather than the 6,500k bulbs i have at the moment? I dont realy care about it looking good im just tring to get the most rapid coral growth.
  20. when you say aquaneedit is that the seallys one? i asked someone at mitre10 mega and they couldnt guarentee that it was non-toxic. and what type of superglue? dosent superglue contain cyanide?
  21. there was a light importer and he had a single ended 10,000k bulb for $500. kiwi dollars. is there any diffrence between the bulbs specifically made (or advertised) for aquariums and ones just used for lighting?
