yep duncan your correct, i have a bottle of stress coat here and it says it is used to remove chloramine etc. etc and make tap water safe...just not in those words hehe and caper you are right aswell... it helps the slime coat in fish!!! thanks

they are nearly plecos... they are Golden blackeyed ancistrus(GBA) they are just golden bristlenoses realy. so your pretty close in your guess

i dont know alot about these tanks but does it need to have water poored into it somewhere to help it start like a HOB filter does?? is there a blockage of some kind in the uplift tube somewhere?? how old is it etc.that may help. it may have a leaking seal or something of some sort stopping water flow good luck **EVIL**

so why are the other fish not looking good. the blue rams and the male cockatoo hav all lost their colour. she cant have affected the water being dead and all because she musnt of been dead long. a few days ago they didnt look very good so i kept an eye on them and they went back to normal i just dont want the others to die thanks **EVIL**

hello I sat and watched my fish for about half an hour this morning and all seemed fine. i went out for about 4 1/2 hours and came back to a dead female apistorgramma cacatoides (cockatoo cichlid) in the tank she was in there is, 1 pair cockatoos, 1 pair blue rams and 1 pair bristlenoses. now i only have my male cockatoo left!! she was doubled over on the bottom, i took her out and stuck her into a little bowl so i could examine her and i noticed that her mouth area had alot of red on/around it which is not normally there. she also had a pinky looking "bubble thing" coming out just behind her anal fin...her bottom. it wasnt a worm it looked like her guts were coming out. they looked a little bit "wierd" this morning but not anything to worry about. just fish behaviour really. she is quite a dominant little girl, pushing the rams around if she wants too and they are bigger than her... could the male or the rams have atacked her?? i dont think so because the other fish are not looking good now. im thinking it could be internal parasites. what do i treat with??? thankyou in advance **EVIL**

ok. im starting with a couple internal filters for now but in about a month i will be buying an external. the two kinds i can get are: the aqua one 1200lph or the jebao 1200lph I would like some feedback on them if possible. what people think are better etc. thanks

hey gizmo, sorry to hear about your oscar. firstly, im dont know anything about goldfish so i cant help you there!!! second, other fish you could put in would be things like severums, jack dempseys, convicts, kribensis, jewels, heaps of different cichlids really!!! or you could go for lots of small fish and have it has a HUGE community tank, ie, neons, dwarf cichlids, danios, angels, discus, corys etc. etc. you could get another oscar but you dont seem keen on that idea i dont think you could make a MEANLY planted tank consisting of mainly plants and a large school of small fish or something. whateva you end up going with, good luck and im sure it will be nice **EVIL** :bounce:

shot anthony!!!! be honest i dont know alot but i just wanted to say congrats. i think that the female(s) may have to be taken out but im not sure. all i know is that you have to keep a good lid on the tank once they hatch so the air temp is preferably as high as the water temp. when they are growing up they need to grow their air breathing organ (name???) and if the air is not warm and humid it will not grow properly good luck **EVIL**

i have bought selleys glass silicon to do the glueing. it says that it is suitable for making or repairing small aquariums. the man at the shop said that it wouldnt be suitable for making a big tank but it would be sweet for the top braces on a big tank (which is what i am doing ) has anybody ever used this silicon and what have you found with it?? is it all sweet?? would it be cool for the top braces for my tank ( sizes above somewhere lol) i havent opened the packet yet so i can take it back if i need to but it was the only aquarium safe one that i could find local so i would have to go abroad to get another i am planning on siliconing it up tomorrow but i will wait untill i get some feedback from experienced people thanks **EVIL** :bounce:

another update since last visit. i have cut the old bracing off and removed all old silicone. i have given it a good clean out and i am now ready for siliconing. that will happen tomorrow probably. the glass i got this morning for it looks awesome when i sit it on top. it is slightly tinted which looks cool. once i start cycling it etc. i will start taking pics and post them on here to keep everyone up to date thanks guys and gals!!!! **EVIL** :bounce:
