  1. I am not sure I understand what you mean... :-? I have re-siliconed a tank a few weeks ago and it went well! If you don't mind rephrasing your question I'll try to help
  2. That's a pretty cool idea! It resembles what happens with water in nature!
  3. Cool! Thanks for the hint... Sounds easy enough - I think I'll give it a pop :bounce: :bounce:
  4. I think he took them off...

    Sailfin Plecos

I was wondering if Sailfin Plecos can be bred in captivity at all. All the info I found on the net states that it is virtually impossible to breed them in captivity because they dig caves in the riverbed to spawn... Also, is there any chance of sexing them? :-?
  8. Very nice Plecos! Congrats! The pics are great by the way  Just out of curiosity: how do you get the frame around the pictures? Do you use a program for that? It looks really cool...
  9. That was quick indeed! Congrats to the eggs!

    coral rock

Unbelievable! As Tanksman said - I would think it's likely to have been someone who KNEW they were there and WHAT they were!

    Clove Oil

I have to agree with you - nicely spotted! I just read over it without noticing... This is what I found on the subject: If you want to read the whole article: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-mos ... a-fish.htm Great article! Also: This is an excerpt from here: http://www.petalia.com.au/templates/Sto ... ry_No=1885 I hope this clears it up a bit
  12. That's a cool idea you have there, BlueandKim! Let us know how you get on, if you decide building something! :bounce:
  13. How do you go about catching them? I'd love to get a few as well! Is it easy? :bounce:

    dropsy?

Our Guppy passed away a few days ago... Unluckily we seem to have another case of Dropsy on our hands now! Once again it's a male Guppy. Just this time it's one of our younger ones. I'd like to know if it's worth trying treatment again or just euthanise him. Also, why do we keep getting this!?! :-? We never had this before... Tank is a 2footer stocked with a bunch of Guppies, a couple of Platies, 2 Sailfin Plecos and 3 Kuhli Loaches. The tank is very heavily planted and has good filtration/lighting. The water parameters are fine. Temperature is at 27 C. We do 20-25% weekly water changes and syphon the bottom every time we do this. We feed them live food and several different dry foods. Also, is dropsy contagious? Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated
  15. I'd enter if any of our tanks would be competitive enough - even if it only would be for the prize money... lots of cash to be won there!
  16. I have to admit, I don't know that much about Angels. :-? So you might want to consider Angel FiNatic's advice on this
  17. I agree with Kookie! Well said! It obviously depends on the type of fishes you get too. As Kookie said: watch out for bullies! And keep up the water changes. I would however suggest getting a couple less bottom dwellers - not just because of potential overcrowding but also for the overall balance of the tank. There's going to be too much going on on the bottom IMHO. HTH Dan
  18. Really sorry to hear about your loss, Caper! It's annoying when you don't even now the cause... :-? Maybe he was just old?
  19. Thanks for the compliments Tsarmina and evilknieval69 Just a quick update - she's still doing great and it looks like she'll be ready to spawn very soon! :bounce: :bounce:
  20. I am sorry to see that no one had any useful thoughts on this - got to admit that those are really odd symptons... My best guess is a swim bladder malfunction. :-?
  21. Hey Laura! Sorry, we've been really busy lately so I didn't have a chance to stop by... Glad to hear that you could identify the problem and sorry to hear that there doesn't seem to be a cure! We've tried Furan 2 on a case of dropsy with no success. We also tried using double doses in the later stages of the treatment and it didn't seem to be a problem. This was done in a small quarantine tank though. Hope your Convict will be fine Dan
  22. Glad I could help Did you end up getting them?
  23. Hey PlecoMan! Thanks for the address of the shop - I went to check it out yesterday and there was a note hanging in on the door saying that they closed down :-? What a pity... Thanks for the PM anyway - just thought I'd let you know Dan
