IMO It is probably a bit dodgy to assign proper names to these fish and sell them with them if they were purchased as a bulk mixed lot.. Yes I know they may resemble fish from the internet but you have no real idea what they are unless they came from a good source.

I think you need to decide on a few species you like first or look around at what is for sale and what other people keep before a tank size can be recommended. I would say the bare minimum for a dem/yellow/peacock tank would be a 150L 3ft tank that is wide (not one of those tall ones) but a 4fter would be better. Generally a good start would be a good sized 4fter but if you can afford bigger then get it

People do keep them together, they do prefer different water conditions but both seem to adjust well either way, it would probably come down to tank size and individual temperaments of the fish involved.

It would be very interesting to see photos of these fish, wild or F1 yellows are supposed to be quite rare internationally probably what I would call nigh on impossible to see in NZ.. Of course it doesn't mean it can't happen My advice for you is if you want to breed from these fish then keep them in a species tank or if you have to mix them then mix fish from different groups, ie peacocks and mbuna to reduce the chances of cross breeding. The fish you have listed can and will all cross breed, the biggest risks being red zeb x yellow (very hard to tell from looking at the offspring) and your powder blues and red zebras. But if you just want to enjoy your fish keep them all together see what pops up and maybe give them away if things get too busy for you as you can't really guarantee their parentage. Maybe the "some weird ones" is a result of crossbreeding or the ones that didn't throw the same way as the others? Another thing to consider is did you buy any of these fish with scientiffic names (I can assume not when you started trying to match your powder blues to 2 different names) or just the common names you have quoted? Alot of people do sell fish with random names such as red zebra (for anything orange could be hybrid or anything else), powder blues (anything blue with black markings on fins). Having proper names assigned to random fish is very common with zebras generally I won't touch them from people unless I know they know what they are doing or they are fresh imports with proper names from a reputable importer.

Yep too small and they are probably already big enough to have a go at your other fish, with fish that grow as fast as oscars it is always best to buy the big tank before getting them..

Yeah they could, but then it may exclude plenty of people who have awesome fish you are after but won't see your message because they haven't joined.. It is hard to tell really Like I said Rob if you want to give it a go then let me know I am keen..

The problem with limiting who can view what is up there is that others cannot benefit from the information or share in the photos which may inspire them to give them a go so it wont be doing anyone any favours..

I wouldn'd be too keen on a dwarf cichlid with him, maybe a couple of kribs I have had and seen them with africans a few times and they seem to go ok. Maybe another option would be to rehome him and redo the tank with something that is more suited to the tank size and comes out?

Gasoline direct injection I think, apparently it is supposed to increase the cars economy but if you google it it seems more people have it going the other way and the cars being pigs. I don't know if it is a case of the minority complaining or if they really are bad, one would think if it was so bad then mitzi would have ditched it ages ago? Usual story, always talk to your local mechanic that you can trust before buying any car..

I feel its best chance of success would be a club for all cichlids as most people who keep dwarfs have like 1 pair or a nice male because they are pretty in community tanks.. These people would have no interest in joining a club for a couple of pretty fish in their tank. Again just my opinion. Maybe an email list or website or something? Or we could all just join the FNZAS lol

Yep the tank is too small to add anything else with that fish really, you may get away with something completely different like an electric yellow or something but it still wont be a very good sized tank for it..

I have been thinking about the same thing maybe a cichlid based club.. But I do think that the number of people who would join and contribute would be so low it would all fuzzle out before long and noone would be prepared to put in the work. Plus alot of the people who have most the fish keep their cards very close to their chests so probably won't contribute. That is just my feelings, if you give it a go I will help out and join to see what happens though..

6 Dems would be a bad start you would most likely end up with 1.. Start out with 12 min more if you can afford it and in a 60gal you would definately have the room for more.

Yellows tend to go well in any sort of ratio especially in big tanks like the one you are mentioning they are quite peaceful for africans.. I have fry of a whole heap of africans if you are interested just send me a pm

Got some wicked ones a while back but lost them without managing to breed them.. There are a heap of females about but haven't seen any nice males since I lost the last male I had They are harem breeders as such but very aggressive so recommended if you use more than a pair you have a bigger tank with lots of cover so the females don't smash each other up too much.

Sounds like some good advice Just google "raising angelfish eggs" and you will find millions of sites telling you how to do it, Jewels should be the same thing.. You will probably only have to save one batch and you will have more jewels than you would be able to sell/give away in the next year

lol I think someone saw the auction contacted them directly and brought the fish and they are saving the $2 by raising the reserve..

Even though it is a bad idea to treat fish when they aren't sick, if you treat him with metro and he gets better you are going to have to treat the rest because they have been in contact and could have picked up whatever he had.. If he isn't eating then it may well be hex.. Or he could be stressed out. Personally I would try some metro..

I got the pleasure of travelling back from Christchurch with Pepper he certainly loves humans and unless he was sleeping (which he did quite happily on the car headrests in the moving car) he was trying to climb all over us. It is good to hear he has settled in is he loving his mansion of a cage? Glad you have found some training info on how to get him to do some cool tricks.

If he still isn't eating then it would suggest there is still something going on. I would probably hit him and the others with metro, I know some people do it regularly on their discus and if anything it would eliminate the possibility of hex.

You would pretty much get the same thing I would think.. I am very much an amature with the genetics of guppies I am sure there are plenty that would be able to look at that fish and disect the various genes and figure out how to put it to different fish and create anything.

I have tanks full of blonde skaneskins.. Although I am trying to breed out the snakeskin and get all yellow and platnum yellows, can easily supply you with females or more males similar to that if you wanted them Phoenix.

It could be Hex if Phoenix treated with prazi already, how many days and what strength did you treat them with Phoenix? Or else just stress if he was being picked on or isn't used to what is happening with him? If you had to use drugs then metro would be the choice..
