  1. Awesome sounds like you are doing things right to have the 2 pairs with babies, odds are you will get some grow out! If you really really want them to survive you should siphon them out as it is the only way to guarantee it but sounds like you have 2 good pairs there so no need to stress. The plecos will usually eat the eggs if they are going to eat them at any stage wrigglers should be ok. Good luck
  2. It isn't very economical at that rate, even for the prazi.. In comparison a bottle of aviverm is 50mls and contains 230mg Levamisole per ml and costs around $15-20. Droncit tablets are around $1-2ea and have 50mg of prazi in them, it would take 25mls of your avitrol to achieve the same dosage. Jenniferh have you managed to find the sheep wormer in smaller quantities? The issue we have with it here is it is sold in 4L packs which aren't cheap and noone will decant it for us.. If a whole heap of fish keepers were to go in on it then it would work out but unless that happened it is almost unusable.
  3. I always just mash it up and dissolve it in warm water seems to do the trick?
  4. Depending on centrations of the drugs it would be awesome.. Mind you you can overdose heavily on levamisole (upto 25mg/L when 2mg/L is the recommended) with no harsh effects so might be ok..
  5. There is almost no way of sexing them that small, mine didn't start colouring up until around 8cm long and that was only the faintest hint of blue in the face.. They will eventually get big enough to eat a dem, mine are definitely big enough now after 3 years growth but haven't eaten any dems or even (unfortunately) eaten any of the smaller surviving fry in the tank..
  6. What type of fish are going in the tank?
  7. I am pretty sure that looks like a standard pump you would use for a fountain or for the return pump for a sump or something like that.. You could stick it in your tank but it would probably be a massive overkill, there is a 1200LPH powerhead for increasing in tank circulation on trademe in palmy at the moment that might be better? Either that or buy a big ass external and get the flow and filtration up that way.. That is of course unless you wanted to buy this and setup a sump..
  8. You can get some pretty strong castors.. But yeah unless you wanted it to move easily I would remove them just to be safe
  9. Barrie is the man with this, but I have seen a guy drill all his tanks to plumb them all in, he drilled them all intact and just used a glass cutting hole saw from mitre10 went really slow with his drill and started on an angle and used water from a spray bottle as lube.. He didn't break any and would have around 20 tanks in his room all plumbed up, maybe he was just lucky or really good at it, who knows but I have never given it a go
  10. I was going to suggest adding some more fish as it tends to keep the pair together rather than apart, the most effective fish to do this would be adding more rams.. You can even add them in a tank next to the one they are in so they can see them as that is enough to make them feel threatened and gang up rather than beat each other up. A bigger tank would lesson the potential damage to the female, or a divider until they are ready to breed and then remove it.
  11. Are these fish in their own tank with no other fish?

Goto your local vets, ask for a product called Droncit, they will try and sell you drontal but you want droncit.. You may have to ring around multiple vets as drontal is better and more commonly stocked..
  13. Oh yeah well generally africans and plants don't mix too well, of course there are exceptions but all of mine eat them.. And your tank is relatively small for africans too. How many fish do you have in your tank? You mention it has only been running for a month do you know about cycling and adding fish gradually etc?
  14. What types of barbs do you have? And do you have any plants?
  15. lol good call David Mind you my adult lumphead male would give a go at tetras he is pretty big with a huge mouth..
  16. Short answer no, there maybe 1 or 2 that people think that may work but I wouldn't recommend it.. Of course you could keep them together but your tetras may get eaten, if you select the right fish the barbs/loaches may be ok..
  17. Photos for ghostknife I would have to say I think it is a cool fish but IMO it is not fryeri..
  18. Sure, if you click on the "email" tab at the bottom of my posts then you will get my email address
  19. Cheers for that Mark, as I said I am already well warned and had my own dodgy dealings with that person Obviously it is almost impossible to tell what has made up your fish but It is an interesting comparison
  20. Yeah sorry to say Mark IMO it is not a fryeri either I too can see venutus in there.. Fryeri are supposed to be alot more slender than that and white blaze.. Where did your one come from Mark? PM if you feel the need to not name and shame, I just like to keep track of what various strains of these fish turn out like..
  21. Hmm that is interesting not a fryeri then.. But looks too blue to be a lithobates.. Any chance of some more clearer pics of these fish and a side on one of the first fish?
  22. You could save an awful lot of money and buy a CF1200 or even one of those 1400 LPH sunsun filters.. There are plenty of people who have had CF1200s running for many years with no issues and you can pick them up brand new for less than $200 Yeah it means you have to have a heater in your tank but they are easy to hide.. However if money isn't an object and you really want an eheim they are great filters
  23. NZ couriers still take fish so it is nothing to worry about
  24. Yeah you sure can, it works out alot cheaper if you are going to do it that way.
  25. Yes it was a good meeting Thanks to everyone who came, pizzas and chocolate and also the muffins
