  1. Hi I have an existing 90 litre tank and want to movie the existing Lake Malawi fish into the new tank. I can't say for certain what Lake Malawi fish I have but all I can say I have 5 types / 2 of each. Patrick from Goldfish Pagoda in Pakuranga said they will grow to between 5 to 7 cm. The Aqua one Ar620 is also 90 litres and the dimensions are 62wx52hx39d. The old tank was 90x30x30 (90litres). any advice or help would be highly appreciated. I have another aqua one AR850 but saving it for a heavily planted community tank. thanks in advance
  2. Why 18000K? Is not natural sunlight around 6500K... I usd to buy them from a guy in Ellerslie but I can't remember where now?
  3. do you intend for the tank to be rimless? - this will affect your lighting options. not sure what this means does it have a hood and stand, or just a stand. just a stand where in the house is the tank. Is it against a wall? Yes I must apologise - my suggestions are seldom cheap, but are effective.
  4. Hi, I figured out MH is Metal Halide but what is PMDD and can you please let me know where I can get this, Daltons aquatic mix and the MH, thanks...
  5. Please post a pic when you get a chance.... I so want to see what it looks like!
  6. I guess that makes sense.... however I want to boost the quality of natural and therefore use artificial assistance..
  7. Hi I just purchased another tank and want to set it up like a really good natural aquarium like Takashi. There is only 1 single tube of light which is a plant gro plight. However it is not enough. The tank does have one of those prefabricated hoods which I would like to keep. Therefore I would be looking for a system that can fit into the existing hood. Any help advice on where I could maybe buy a Jebo lighting system or something else which will work well to give me around 150W of power would be great..... thanks!
  8. Hi, I am looking for the following, please advice whats the best and where I could it at the best price. 1. an affordable quiet best value for money filter. Should it be a UV filter. 2. Great value for money T5 / Metal Halide Lighting system around 6700K for growing plants. I calculated I would need around 150W of lighting power. 3. CO2 system which works really well and is not growing to break the bank. 4. Fertilizer and nutrients for the plants. I am looking at using sand. Any advice or help or addtional suggestions would be great.
  9. Hi its been 3 years since I have been back on the forum. Been in Australia and did not have a tank until now since I moved back to the best place on Earth. I just bought off trade me a 1.2 meter Tank. I am moving it from Waitakere to Botany this weekend. It has a cabinet, a pump, filtre and light system in the roof. This is what the tank comes with gravel, java moss plants, drift wood and the following fish: 6 large angels ,4 large clown loaches, 1 ghost knife ,and 1 golden nugget plus some cardinals and one blue ram. I want to use Daltons Propogating sand as the substrate not sure if I can get this at Palmers only or any where else. I don't have a spare tank. Most probably I can only transport very little water with the fish, plants and filter wool, te rest of the water I will have to get rid off. Does anyone have any advice how I can setup this up with a make shift system as fast as possible so as not to put the fish under stress? Can anyone please inform me where I can purchase plant fertilizer from in bulk. I used to buy it from Singapore from http://www.nature-aquarium.com. However they don't seem to exist anymore. I was wanting to put in an under gravel heater as well but not sure where I can purchase this. I went down to animates in Botany and on the shelf did not find some stuff. Therefore was a little concerned. I am trying to create a Takashi Amano setup again. I am also looking for Ricci, Christmas Moss and Glosso. The most important thing is how can I literally off a hose and warm hot cylinder water get the water right to get the tank sorted. There are other questions I have on initial fast verses proper setup but will wait for feedback before I put anymore questions up. Thanks so much in advance for feedback.
  10. How can I get rid of this long gree hair like algae, thanks?
  11. I have this but in blue http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_ ... 4009938036 or you could try this http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/0004 ... 458808.htm
  12. It took me about a full day to get it looking like that. Undergravel heating is for trying to attempt creating the same environment as in the amazon, It creats a convection current thus moving nutrients freely through the sand. Airstones are good. fish love them, I would suggest however looking at bubble walls they are way cooler and there's a blue one which would be available at your LFS, this one prduces really fine bubble s and you would be able to extend it.
  13. Here's a link.... http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/my-aqu ... 10102.html
  14. Yes I have a 4 foot, It seems alot of people do and yes the larger they are the easier they are to manage. I spend half the time on my 240L tank than I used to on my 28L tank
  15. Casey just a note, I have six khuli loaches, so that they get together and dance, P.S. they are nocturnal. They keep the floor of my 240 litre tank absolutely clean....
  16. Hate snails, my guppy tries to school with my tetras, they are pretty good together, I cannot comment on the other, I would recommend Khuli loaches, they are very unique and look really cool and keep the floors quite clean, i.e. eating all the extra food, maybe some flying foxes as well for the bits of algae. How big is your tank gonna be?.... do you know pleco's grow really really big, I have heard up to 40cm!
  17. I dont know much but could it be snails?
  18. My male is is finally acting like a man and not hiding, therefore he has started his dance of love.....i.e. flexing his fins to the female
  19. Joshua is pretty helpful chap, it won't hurt to ask him if he can make a plan.....
  20. I bought the 1.2m version of this, its pretty good, i.e. built in hood filter with powerhead and 2 built in T5 flourescent tubes 849mm long. Comes with the stand and hood, check it out! http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/0004 ... 826745.htm
