  2. just got in from work and spent half an hour waiting to get a good look at her eye-to me it seems that theres a wound just behind the eye causing swelling(?) or damage to the eye itself. there's nothing sharp in the tank (that I can think of), so I'll guess theres been un usually high level of aggro. tanks reasonably well planted but could use more cover, plenty of caves and drift wood in tank there is: pair of golden dwarf cichlids(female has the bad eye) pair of panduro(probably caused it) 2 BN's 10 neons and 6 golden pencil's any suggestions for possible treatment? she's eating normally but is otherwise pretty listless and hiding in the plants at the back. will try get and post a photo

  8. Hi all, I'm looking to add some floating plants to my tank in order to make things more comfortable for fish in the upper levels of my tank-I'm planning to get Hatchet fish and possibly Keyhole Chichlids at some point. Can any one give me some pointers as I've no idea what would be suitable or whats available cheers sid

  12. Hi all After looking in the local shops and asking about I finally managed to pick up a young male Panduro to go with my female last weekend at Jensons(Glenfield) after visiting the inlaws. He went strait into the tank as I don't have a quarantine tank at the mo(will be set up this week) and was completely ignored by the female and actually seemed to spend most of his time with my pair of Golden dwarf's(Nannacara anomala) over the last couple of days I've noticed that a couple of my Neon's have had their tails chewed although I'd seen no aggro (will fins/tails grow back ok? -fish seem to swim ok ) well I've just discovered why...... the two Panduro are chasing everything away from one of the flower pot caves at the front of the tank-I can just get a look in using a torch and theres about 12+ red eggs in there with the female keeping a constant watch and the male patroling outside what now ---I cant remove the flower pot to another tank without half stripping the tank assuming the fry hatch what would be the best way to remove them? should i remove them at all?(theres plenty of cover in the tank) sorry for blathering -this is the first time i've had fish breed (guppies dont count) and I'm pretty exited :bounce:
  13. cheers -thought they may -wasn't sure though. best try to keep to other types then
  14. hi all I've a female panduro(unfortunatly lost the other when moving tank -Any one seen or have males?)I'm planning to put other dwarf Cichlids in as well-is there a risk of cross breeding between types of apisto's? I've seen lots on here about Africans and some other types cross breeding but verry little about SA Dwarfs particually Apisto's . Any advice would be great . Cheers
  15. thanks guys- just checked the tanks nitrates(10 ppm now) amonia(0) and ph may transfer some fish over tonight
  16. Hi again folks. just wondering what's concidered an aceptable nitrate level my tank (set up 3 weeks ago)has a resonable number of plants (which I want to grow) and I'll be transfering My fish (panduro ,pencils and bn's)when the filters cycled theres 10 neons in there at the moment and I'm only feeding very small amounts once per day during cycling Nitrates are reading very high(to my mind) 20 ppm before todays 40-50% water change Alge's growing like mad on my driftwood and my plants especially the ambula are growing like mad. What should I be aiming for to get a good balance for plants and fish
