Is this normal or should I actually leave it to grow? I dont like the look of it, but suppose I'll have to put up with it if its all good.

Ok so when I bought these two the guy reckoned the lighter one was female, however some people who have come around said that the brightness was not the indication, more so the black on the fins underneath and the only real way was to vent them, im too scared to even attempt this at the mo but am wondering what kind of fish the lighter one is? Is it a Female Yellow Lab and why is the colour so light compared to other females I have seen? Sorry about the Quality of pics, the little buggers never stay still!!!! The so called female... The Male... Both together for a comparison...

Hi yeah its the new one. All the levels are sweet as, and small amounts of nitrates, maybe needs to cycle further?

Some of the rocks higher in the tank (closer to the lights) are getting a small amount of brown algae on them and is spreading more every day. What is the cause and what is the solution?

Update.. Tank looking a little clearer, got some B-Clear for LFS, however that hasnt done much good, tank is no longer green looking anymore but still a little murky/white, even after two doses of this product! Rinsed all the filter media in some tank water in a bucket and cleaned out the hoses that were lined with a light brown goo that smelt like compost! Had to do another 50% water change to try and rid the murkiness however still the same. PH 8, Amm - 0, nitrite - 0, nitrate - 5 Been told you use Magi Clear now. I wonder if this will work or will be another waste of money on useless chemicals in my tank!

cool so this pretty looking rock is the base for all coral I wish to introduce and is the rock of choice for the back wall I plan on creating? It also filters the nasties yeah? So whats the biz with these wet/dry things?

Well thats music to my ears mate, as I thought it was now useless, so it basically controlls other substances and at the same time can increase water flow yeah? Sounds good, so other than that and a Protein skimmer, I wont need to filter the water as the live coral will do this yeah?

I have just been told my canister filter will be sweet as? Why the conflict of info I have no idea. So far I understand I need a protein skimmer, and something to create a current, thats all I am certain of so far... Cheers

hmmm...2000? thats quite a lot of $$$ just to breed some clown fish! Will def take a few spawnings to pay itself off! So what gear will I need, like a full list? And will I have to drill a hole in my tank? If so I may aswell custom build a new one seeing as I cant use my existing setup I may aswell keep it going

Ok.. I have seen far too many beautiful saltwater tanks that make freshwater setups look second best by a mile and have decided to take the plunge and go saltwater. I currently have a 1220x470x450mm tank around 250L The canister filter I have is an Aqua One CF1200 around 1200lph Plently of high powered pumps for airstones And a 200W heater. Please excuse my ignorance, but what will I need to create a saltwater tank? I have heard of protein skimmers and a need for different lighting but cant seem to get any good sound advice. And a rough estimate of what I will need/cost I plan on keeping the cliche clowns and hope to get a pair for breeding, and maybe the odd different species, and really like the different types of anenomies (sp)? and other marine plants/coral. I am wanting to change the lighting for my 4 foot tank and want to bring out the colours in the fish. Obv if I change this white light to a blue one it should look alot nicer, but I'm wondering if a black light (which should look awesome) will harm the fish?

yeah the two that survived the unintentional live feeding really are good at hiding, however one has had a couple of chunks taken from his tail, will it grow back or repair or will he have a little piece of fin missing forever??

To have one left? Yeah, well I have discovered another little one! So yay I have two! Didnt think they would become food however I was wrong. What an expensive meal that was!!!
