Hi Eon

Can you tell us which species of the N. you have available? I have just joined and am talking to a number of members with different species. Not sure which to start with.

Thanks

Werner

Take peat in bag... put in plastic container ( I found the glad containers rocked), add water from tank and put in hot water cupboard or float in tank.

I used the whole lot... they're all due to hatch at the same time anyhows.

If you have a heap of peat, you could seperate it over a container or three to keep a thin layer (eggs not trapped under peat).

I found they started hatching after about 20-30 mins. Was literally "instant fish, just add water" lol

Cool thanks they are hatching now

I can scence another addiction comming on.................. :o:o:o

When do i start feeding??

Just curious. I used to breed nothos about 30 years ago by this method:

Pass washed sand through a fine seive and keep what passes through. Put some of this in a small tank with a male and 3 female that have been seperated and conditioned and leave a couple of days. Pass water and sand through same seive and you are left with eggs only. Place in peat and store 3 months then add to water and remove fry with an eye dropper.Squeeze water from peat and store 1 month and hatch again (you can do this a number of times) I found only about 10% hatch the first time (its a defence mechanism for if the pond dries up again prematurely) What do you guys do? They were saleable at about 6 weeks---grow like mad on live food.

Magarine container, full of peat, a Weeks worth of spawning, remove peat, dry through net until slightly damp, put into zip lock bag with date, remove in six weeks, hatch out. Repeat every week. two weeks depending on the hatch size you want, or food available to breeders.

e.g.

also do a syphon of the gravel with the other end running through the net, add some peat to the gravel when setting up tank, this way you pull out alot of eggs from the gravel aswell, strain and add to zip lock bag etc etc
