Rob
Ok - this may take a little while. I think 14 tanks no longer counts as hobby and goes a fair way to obsession. I used to breed heaps of both kinds but haven't seen any of the smaller browner version for the best part of 10 years. I'm happy to have recently got some young of the more commonly available species and look forward to breeding them once they're older. > 3 logsucker fish You made that up! > 6 Normans lampeye killies + young Excellent! You know I'm keen to get some of those! Glad to see you're getting a few dwarf cichlids. I know how much you love to hear 'breed those' so I wont actually say it, I'll just think it... Yip clay hoplos are the 'other' hoplos (Hoplosternum littorale), got both of them up at Hollywoods one time, haven't seen them anywhere else. I did not make up "logsucker fish" - you've got some wholesaler to blame for that - from the Baensch atlas they're actually some sort of Epalzeorhynchos (same genus as regular flying foxes) I just can't recall the species name at the moment. I bought them not so much for their looks but their behaviour. Yes I'm definitely aware of your acquisitive nature when it comes to Killies and you're definitely top of the list for where the first younguns go. Yip there are lots of things I'm supposed to be breeding for people around the country - the dwarf cichlids are quite high on my list of priorities at the moment (for a number of reasons - they're not cheap, some of them don't come in regularly and in some cases I only have a pair so can't afford to wait around too long). Excellent! I hadn't seen them for so long that I was concerned they'd been lost from the hobby. They're easy enough to breed and being smaller are more suited to the average community tank, IMHO. > I'm definitely aware of your acquisitive nature when it > comes to Killies and you're definitely top of the list for > where the first younguns go. I'll look forward to them. Will probably be passing through the Waikato in November... Andrew.

Oscar Sheila
Looks like my tanks are definitely understocked. I prefer the understocked look. Or at least i will one I get my new tank. Matthew
right here goes. 4' tank 2 red tiger oscars roughly 10" long 1 plecostomus (currently in brother in laws tank due to Oscars laying eggs) approx 12" long 3' tank (just recently set up) 2 bristlenoses 1 ottocinclus 2.5' tank ( to be transferred to 3' tank eventually) 6 clown loaches 2 pearl gouramis 3 panda corydoras 1 peppered corydoras 13 white cloud mountain minnows (10 adults 3 fry) 10 leopard danios (1 adult 9 fry) 5 half wedge harlequins 4 rummy noses 7 cardinals 2 pristellas 1 crown tail fighter. I think that is all. I would love more, but I have to focus more on marriage (october) than fish at the moment. however at a later date I will have a 4 or 5 foot tank with discus. but alas at the moment it is a long way off. Goldie
Just added another 3 foot tank in which the geophagus jupari live with three gourami (2 orange and one blue) and the siamese algae eater. Also got two more discus for the discus tank and some neons, rummy nose and black tetras. ....................................... Now to get back to work to pay for it alll sighhhhhhhhh .................................WELL WORTH it though

Matthew
I'd love to say I agree with you Ira, but it's not worth my life. Slowly i will accumulate all I need and more, and if I'm clever little by little and I might be allowed. Now any ideas on how to convince someone that a five foot tank is neccessary?
Ira
Don't look at me, I haven't managed to convince my wifey that another 4 foot is necessary.
Caryl
All OK here as we are both interested in fish. Grant hasn't anything to do with looking after them but he does enjoy looking at them.
Chris.L
also - tell her that a 5ft means less work than a smaller tank 8)
Matthew
she doesn't believe that. She already knows that if a get a five foot my oscars will have a new home, and my four foot will become the discus tank. she already knows the cost of plants and discus so I imagine I'm out of luck with that suggestion. Keep the ideas coming
Chris.L
mm, there's a discus breeder in auckland that sells discus for $35 and up for like 3-4"... and plants ... well sometime's you get people here giving them away (Thanks Nik/Aqua ).
