Jammos
Hi one of my friends has this gold fish in their pond and we were wondering how to help it as it is bloated. see below. ta all
Caryl
Looks more egg bound to me (but I am no goldfish expert). Better wait until someone more knowledgeable re goldfish comes along
Jo1
Looks like dropsey to me and if so it is too late to help. See if the scales are protruding.
Caryl
Could be just the angle of the pic but I thought it was more protruding on one side than the other, hence my egg bound thoughts, rather than dropsy. I have had goldfish look like this and live perfectly happily with no problems whatsoever.
Wok
I agree with caryl... looks egg bound. Quick find a horny male for her
Jammos
definately no scale sticking out. so is there nothing you can do once egg bound?
Caryl
Is she behaving normally and eating well? If so, I would leave her alone. I have seen fish look like this for years with no apparent ill effects. If it is bothering you, perhaps you could try stripping her.

Caper
No expert but I agree, didn't really look like dropsy but like Caryl said because it looked "fatter" on one side. What makes a fishy become egg bound? For fish that are egg layers, shoot is that the right term layers, anyway do they not just release the eggs every so often?????? I remember way back posting a pic of one of my neons, who was fat but no scales protuding & it was thought to be carrying eggs. The fishy was fine & I do notice every once in awhile a couple of the neons look "fat".
