Duke
What size hole should I drill in the bottom of my over flow for my new tank? 1450 x 750 x 700 ? I have seen a nice fitting at Bunnings which is 25mm outside and 18mm in side hole which would work nice, too small? Return pump is a Ehim 1260 I will be using two streams also wired parrell with a extra connection plug.

Duke
Slappers - is the hole you drilled 32mm? Where did you get the fittings? Do you have a flange on both sides?
chimera
mine's 32mm tank valve as well, similar size tank. 40mm standpipe, 40mm drainpipe to sump. get hansen bits from any store, micos, bunnings, chesters etc. actual hole size is about 38mm from memory, filled with silicon around the sides remember 32mm is inside diameter of the ball valve. Pies
I would reccomend using 32mm as a minimum (thats 32mm pressure pipe, so a 40mm approx hole to fit the plumbing). 25mm will be OK, but for the sake of $2 in plumbing go 32. The way it works is like this, large holes can be tapped off if nessessary, plumbing reducers are less than $2ea in plastic. Holes too small cause tank floods and other drama and is best avoided. Buy you plumbing from a plumbing shop like Mico then you can buy what you need, not like your message above where you are buying what bunnings have (BTW I love bunnings). ghostface
glass drill bits http://www.trademe.co.nz/Business-farming-industry/Building-construction/Tools/Power-tools/auction-50108378.htm i had to measure the outside diameter of the hansen tank fittings, as 32 or 25mm etc is the inside diameter - i think 32mm ended up needing a 34 or 35mm hole.
