yh88
Have I been taken for a ride when a pet food shop selling fish flake food and marked 'Gold Fish Flake' said that they are for general use and can be used to feed other fish? Wok
yes you can feed it to other fish
Faran
Just look on the back of the container at the crude protein, fat, fibre, etc. That's the only difference, and gold fish flake seems to float longer... As Wok said, yes
Luke*
I thought you couldn't , or shouldn't, because goldfish have a slower metabolism being in cold water than tropicals and therefore have different foods.
Ira
I thought you couldn't , or shouldn't, because goldfish have a slower metabolism being in cold water than tropicals and therefore have different foods. Just like how you can feed chicken to a cat but have to feed steak to people because their metabolism is different and humans can't handle chicken... sharn
i try to get foods made specifically for each species ie vege flakes for vegie fish etc etc, theyre each made to provide the right nutrients for the fish or fishes in question, but yeah you can feed them to other fish, but obviously it would be designed for goldfishs needs not for say severums needs. bruce_see
What can I say here...I grind up cat biscuits in the blender and feed that (the mix, not the blender!) to my fish. They love it, (but of course it is not their main diet)
Luke*
Yeah wasn't sure if it was right or not hence the 'thought'. It was on myfishtank.net that was talked about there. Nice shoot down Ira. Bear in mind chicken isn't designed for humans or cats in particular therefore both can eat it.
