electricfish37
Does anybody have any experience using a fridge compressor to provide air to airstones, etc.? The advantages seem to me to be: very cheap, very reliable, large capacity, no diaphragms to replace. Disadvantage - they have lubricant, so the air might need to be passed through a water-jar to remove any contaminant. Any suggestions? Thanks, Mike
Ira
Also they're not designed to be run continuously. So they'll probably burn out quickly. So...Really just go out and buy a proper aquarium pump, less hassle and likely better reliability. I'm sure Alan or someone can suggest a good one. alanmin4304
The pump needs to be lubricated and the fish don't. The other aspect is that you want a pump to move large volumes of air at low pressure not a pump to produce high pressure on a low volume. electricfish37
I guess I'd better just buy a proper one! Any suggestions on supplier, model, etc. I just can't stand those small rubber diaphragm types. They seem to be so unreliable, gradually losing pressure, etc.
