Duke
I purchased a secondhand Deltec 1250 skimmer from Hollywood and had nothing but problems, the collection rate was all over the place. I would get it right and a week later the cup was over flowing in a day. Turn the air down and nothing. This went on for a long time and thought this is the reason the last owner sold it... might well have been. Anyway I let the air in take suck a couple of cups of boiling water and bingo this skimmer is great. The salt had built up in the air intake and was causing a problem. Is this normal? Brianemone
yip any skimmer will build up salt creep/calcium deposits over time, good mantainence is crucial for any skimmer
reef
yes it is, should let it suck freshwater once a month as the salt builds up, this happens to all ventures
cracker
Duke I have 2 x 1250's and they are awesome. If you get stuck, just PM me. I have them completely sussed. They also run in reverse when the flap gets a bit stuck with marine crap, so beware. Will skim half as much.
