The AP1003 can be upgraded toAP1004 buy adding another pump which would make it the same as 2 AP902s.I think that plumbing one is better than 2 and i like the idea of having gravity feed so all the water goes through the skimmer first which would not be easy to do with 2 skimmers.Plus i realy like fish so my bio load is going to be high. Brianemone Posted December 31, 2005 Report Share Posted December 31, 2005 good question jimmy, i think it applies to any skimmer not just deltecs, do you get one bigmongous skimmer or two skimmers of half the size and price? i know alot of guys in the states run two skimmers and alternate the cleaning between the two, so that there is always one running at optimal. tel Posted January 3, 2006 Author Report Share Posted January 3, 2006 result....deltecs are the best and bucketts suck(unless you havent put fresh water down the pipe thingey) further to this scientific study it will come as no surprise that deltecs are the most coveted skimmer in nz due to obvious reasons.1: no one was willing to swap their deltec (ira doesnt count) and 2:every buckett owner was too embarassed to even reply! deltecs are expensive but the best things in life cost alot. if you didnt know this before taking up reefing you should by now. reef Posted January 3, 2006 Report Share Posted January 3, 2006 Becketts are good skimmers as long as you have a good pump. A skimmer is only as good as the pump that runs it. Design is also important. When it come to cost the Deltecs cost slightly more as you have to compare the size of each skimmer not the ratings as some manufacture overrate their skimmers in terms of what volume it will do. cookie extreme Posted January 3, 2006 Report Share Posted January 3, 2006 the best things in life cost alot but the price varries a lot depending where you look! went to placemakers on friday they had shelly's marine epoxy for $20.99 if you go the wharehouse they sell the same stuff for $12.95 (and as i heard yesterday from canadareef for half price over the new year weekend (of course canadareef didn't tell me after the sale finished :evil: )) just shows the mark up with different companies selling the same stuff. does that mean the placemakers epoxy is any better because it cost alot more?
