back on topic, i had 2 x M1100's. one was whisper quiet and worked flawlessly, the other needed a whack to get going and was noisey (rattley) i sold the quiet one and still have the (faulty) one in my fuge.

take it back to the shop you bought it from, they are cheap for a reason :D

the only problem i have with mine (3 actually)

first of all they need to be quite a bit below the water level other wise they suck down the air from the surface (i suppose thats normal for streams as well)

second it doesnt tend to start autonomously when i unplug it or if the power is cut for other reasons (babies pulling out plugs to put their fingers in the sockets  )

third they arent controlable.

the problem for me is the jump in price between the two.

i can go full out and buy streams and im sure i would be happy with them. but thats 1000 more for a deposit (not that house prices are looking attractive at the moment)

priorities i guess. wait which is more important?

true, i'd like another couple of streams, but don't have the spare cash at the moment.

I have 3 streams in my tank, 2 over 2 years old, 24/7. In all that time i havn't had to kick start any of them... And they are what, 4x more powerfull? Ohhh and did I mention they work every time, without having to bang them against a brick wall...

And they're...What, 8x more expensive?

And even if mine ever needed help getting started it's not a big deal, it's usually on constantly anyway, so it's really no big deal if I have to give it a tap to get it going after unplugging it once every few weeks.

Not even close. They are approx $450ea, for the 12000L hr model with the driver so you can run them from a wavemaker. There is also a 12000L model that doesn't pulse, which is cheaper (about $320 i think).

No disrespect to the Seios, but be fair when comparing them to the Streams. It can't be a good sign to know you have to knock the pump to make it go. Can it?

OK, 6.5 times the price for the one with the wavemaker or 4.5 times without. But then, Why spend 4.5 times the price for 4 times the flow, but do they make something in the 4000lph range if that's all you need? Or would we be expected to pay 4.5 times as much money for too much flow?

Too much flow? Surley you jest :)

Don't forget the one with the driver can be adjusted from 30%-100% too. So maybee you can use it now, then if you need more flow, you can crank it up. Reliability, versatility, flexibility and power all in one convienant package (Tune, can I have a job?).
