Alan
The joy of belonging to a postal club I find are the members that in a lot of cases you only know by email or the occasional phone call. Are the visits of distant members. Yesterday I was the host to our newest member Tim and his partner. I took them over to see EJ's setup, and they were suitably impressed. Had a long chat over a beer or two; poor ol' Tim was convinced that now he's a member of the NZKA he'd need a tin of BrineShrimp eggs, which he obtained. Mind you, they are about the cheapest around, and for the NZKA members only. Back to my place, a quick look at my setup, a lunch prepared by Rose was enjoyed then back to the business of staring into tanks and what ever happens in fish rooms. Buying of his first trios was apparently so exciting for Tim, he forgot those unpronouncible names and had to email me for them when he got safely home. Even wants to come back NEXT weekend with his brother. But I'm afraid Whakatane and Ohope are closed down that weekend. So if you are travelling, see if you can catch up with your club mates. By the way you Aucklanders, I'm heading your way next weekend. Make sure your dogs are tied up and your tanks are clean. I MAY be around to see YOU. AquaNut
Thankyou Alan. Just so members know, I arrived at 10:30 with the intention of leaving half an hour later. I left at 3pm!!! Thanks for answering those PM's last night Alan. I would love some help from other members too. I dont have a fish room. I have 3 20LTR tanks. 3heaters, 3airfilters and of course 3 sets of Killies (They did survive the night). I intend to get more tanks ( I know, MTS )as I also have some eggs in peat. A few questions please. Is MTS curable? What is the ideal temp for Killi tanks? Are they all the same? If Im water incubating Aphyosemion's, can I hold collected eggs in floating container in the parents tank to keep water temp? How often should you change Parents water vs fry water? It didnt rain in Auckland today! So Im going to use tap water and AQ+ water cond but wondered what else in need to consider? Who has the best description/photos for setting up BBS breeder? Look forward to hearing from you all soon :bounce:
jude
There's only one treatment for MTS - more tanks  Cheers Jude

Wok
I have found that keeping killies is one of the easiest fish to do... all you have to do is change water...normal Auckland tap water is fine... I don't even add anything anymore. Well happy fish keeping. Alan... Ready and Waiting for your visit.
Werner
Welcome Aquanut and enjoy! You will. It is easier than I thought it would be. Same for the bbs. upturned colddrink bottle with bottom cut off. Airline from the top. I use those waterbottles with the suck thing for a lid. This makes it easy to siphon them off. Enjoy Werner
AquaNut
Thats a great idea. Im just concerned that the temp of the water, amount of salt and water condition might be wrong. Im doing a trial now without really knowing what exactly the right conditions should be. Nice to meet you.
Werner
Likewise Aquanut. I don't heat anything as our house is quite warm. The salt content I use is a heaped teaspoon per 500ml water. Not too many eggs as I end up throwing a lot away  experimenting as you do is fun in any case. Enjoy. Those killies are the cutest. Mine are coming on nicely and I enjoy them so much

Werner
Hi Alan The eggs are from the best guys around The killie club guys! Thanks to Erling and you Alan I have bbs to last a loooong time  The fish eggs come from Erling and Stu. Interestingly I got more fry from Stu's eggs, but the ones from Erling's are growing a bit faster. mmmmmm. But all in all the guys are doing just fine and I enjoy them tremendously
AquaNut
I dont believe it. Today I feed bbs for the first time. The fish love them dont they. I have 8 Australe choc eggs and have hatched heaps of speacial eggs!!! MTS shopping on Sat!!!
Alan
With those eggs, the only ones that you throw out should be if the culture has died on you (lack of air bubbling). If you are hatching correctly only floating egg cases are left for the lawn.. Sounds like you guys are becoming a bit attached. Don't say you weren't warned. Aqua, will you be home Sunday?? That is the only spare day that I have up there, at the moment. Thursday I hope to link up with Wok, haven't told him yet, but guess he'll read this.
