Bluetom
i have thought of starting to get some killies, when we talk small tanks is 1 foot ok? and do they only require sponge filters or UGF? Plus what temp? If anyone has a good website that would be a help. Cheers, Tom
caserole
High Bluetom, a 1ft tank is fine for breeding most killies. as for web sites  have you ever googled "killifish" theres so many out there, killicom, bka, aka, dka just to begin with. Then there's the private websites. If you really are interested in killis pm Alan

Bluetom
Alan my email has now been added to my profile. I have had a look around at the website suggested and i think i have all the stuff i might need; Small tank(s) Peat moss (100L) Java fern, indian fern and java moss. Air pump (sponge filter will be made using Shuih's recipe) Lid All i want to know is do you all heat your tanks? I figure it probably won't be nessecary during summer and will be during winter? is that right. I was just think it could become alot more expensive if i have to buy a heater for each tank. Also I'm not a big user of BBS (student with no money) so is inforsia (sp?) then finely crushed flake ok for fry? (have made like a power for my other fry before) Thanks for your adivce
Alan
My room is heated. Just have to make sure of your insulation. Once you have joined, I'll send you details on how to build a mini fishroom, heated only by an incandescent light bulb. Cheap to run. I'd suggest you go and mow a couple of lawns, as the BBS eggs are cheap to get in bulk, and IMHO necessary for the fry. Infusoria is too fine for these fry. But as an alternative, you could use micro-worm. But that does not beat BBS. Alan
Bluetom
alright thanks for all your advice, i knew it would come to bbs eventually, lol. will assess things bit more, mow a few more lawns and do a whole lot more research. Thank you
Wok
Bluetom... if it is of any help... none of my 5 killie tanks are heated. I have them in my living room and all of the killies are doing well.... especially the aphy nigerium gold and the chocolate australes. and they are all in 1ft x 1/2ft x 1/2ft tanks. Bluetom
cheers wok, the problem i have is that my tanks won't fit up the stairs, family are blocking the way   so they are resticted to downstairs, i had some water in a tank and it dropped to 15degrees so it can get quite cold. I have just brought some larger tanks so manybe i could divided them and heat the lot with a single heater.
