BK
Cheers Craig. Will have to hunt up some photos on the internet but please to have some where to start. Plan is to have these guys in with a pair of Rams to breed. Once this tank is stocked will only have the Zebra Pleco to sort out. Would start with GBA BN first and then to the Zebra. What is the most people would pay for a Zebra. From other post understand that $600.00 each is the asking price up north but understand that not to many people would pay this. What do people think a fear price is as if I could get a pair breeding would want to sell offspring and at $600.00 each I don't think it would take long exhaust demand. craig
dude where do you shop!!! last year at work we had 6 come throu quarinteen, they sat in the shop for ages at $220.each,the last 4 ended up going out the door for $180 each. a mate bought some from another shop here,he paid $1200 for 6 that was the yr before that,so unless they have become endangered damn $600.00 each your looking in the wrong place. you will have to do some research into these guy's as far as breeding,it's not that easy.HEAPS of flow needed,as these guy's virtually breed in rapids. i'll see what i can do shelley
BK
Cheers Craig but only plans and info on the Zebra to start with. Haven't looked in to keeping them yet just thinking about it and asking 4 imput. The other one would be a Arowana (sp) so i can get read of any thing needing culling. What shop do u work at, $600.00 was a price mentioned on here about fish at Holly's in Auckland. Price isn't a problem if you can get a return which I was kind of asking. Do you keep Discus, always interested in what Discus are available local.
craig
sorry about that dude, didn't read your post properly  my partner works at redwoods,i used to,too.probably served you a few times. as far as zebra's go, i didn't relise they were so expensive up north.if you can get them cheap ie.200 each then the price of your babies would oviously be much lower than up north aye!!! so the demand would be good.i think they still have a little aro in the shop, not to sure of price.price has never been an issue for me neither, but to alot of people it is.and getting a good buy always makes you smile. i actually enjoy the hobby more by being able to make others smile when i sell any of my fishie babies.doesn't always fill my wallet but that's not really what it's all about. for me anyways. yes i do keep discus.let me know if you do decide to get some zebra's,they usually only bring them in if the demand is there. cheers shelley
caserole
My favourate Apisto is the orange flash cockatoo, I have A. agassizi and A. nijsseni ( panda Apisto ) too. Apistogramma are really pretty cichlids and so easy to breed, raising the fry is another matter. yes the zebra pleco is endangered.

Ira
Were Zebra plecos the plecs that had a mine upstream dump mercury into the only river they're found in and wipe out the entire river? Was some pleco, I'm pretty sure it was zebras.

CatBrat
Were Zebra plecos the plecs that had a mine upstream dump mercury into the only river they're found in and wipe out the entire river? Was some pleco, I'm pretty sure it was zebras. Nope it wasn't the Zebra's river, it was the river where Blue Eyed Pleco (Panaque cochliodon) is found. The Zebra's have just been serverly over fished, and now the the Brizilian government have stopped them from being caught (a great idea I think! We don't want to lose them forever do we!). There is an interesting artical HERE on PC, which explains what is happening with the zebra's. Cheers, CatBrat..
HummingBird
This is exactly why I'm in favour of moving most of the population of humans to colonise the moon.

HummingBird
Just the two, from what I've seen. The littlies are getting to look like real fish now, not just little dots with tails I'll get some pics soon
BK
So what do people think the market would pay for Zebra's. I'ld pay $600.00 each to get a breeding program but don't think there would be that many others that would apart from those on here so what do people think would be a realist price.
