cracker
Filling with a 1000 GPH bilge pump. Takes 20 minutes to fill to about the 900litre mark. not too bad, I wouldnt get a bigger pump in the top opening anyway....Nice to sit back and admire the harbour late at night anyway....quite pleasant! reef
Just chill out and leave it. test in a few months when you are ready.
cracker
Added Microlene filter today, which feeds automatic leveling system for evaporation. Also added yellow belly damsel into tank to assist cycling. Tank is in full sun all day, so will be very natural to the fish! Granite slab for display tank should be ready by saturday. Sump is fully covered, so evaporation will be minimal. once connected to display, things will change!

cracker
he poos for me! and the Nitrosomonas eats it up....you should know that Reef. Keeps the biological system turning.
lduncan
There is plenty of "poo" in those rocks for bacteria to eat.
Brianemone
where is the granite slab going??? can you draw a pic
cracker
i still prefer to have a constant source of poo. This rock was only 4 days out of an established system, so was pretty clean. The ammonia is gone already and the nitrobacter is half way kicked in. I still need to feed the ammonia. reef
I think a small damsel is going to do squat for the amount of rock you have. might need 50 damsels to produce enough waste. just get some ammonia to dose the tank

cracker
still better to feed the bacteria with something, rather than nothing.... Just how I like to do things....each to their own eh?
