jude
I'm on leave and have finally got time to potter - the fish don't know whats hit them. I've rearranged my little 2' tank and removed 2 large albino cats, 10 minnows, a dozen or more rosy barbs and a medium sized bn. I left 10 cardinals, 2 little gba's and 2 tiny baby pepper cories in there and added a male siamese fighter. It looks good but all the fish are at the bottom, even the fighter spends a lot of time mooching round the gravel. What could I put in there to swim in the middle space? Obviously the tank can't take much more but considering what I've removed I think it could handle a couple more. Would swordtails be OK or would they nip at the fighter? Suggestions please. Loopy
try some rasboras of some sort. i have found they are not bad at filling up the upper levels of a tank.
Wok
How about a baby Oscar.. that should get everyone else moving ALL OVER the tank
jude
LOL Wok and thanks Pearly, I don't like keeping fast active fish in little tanks tho and thanks Loopy - Harlequin Rasboros it will be - I've always liked them, they're a pretty fish Cheers Jude

Faran
Penguin Tetras!!! Just kiddin! Jude, I'd have to honestly recommend guppies for that situation. They'll keep active and playful and will settle the tank down a bit so they get off the gravel and have some fun. Otherwise platies or swords... and I think we know where to go to get lots of those! If you want some guppers I can bring you down some 1-1.5cm bubbas from my fry tank (biggest I have so far) next time we head into Wai. They're just starting to colour up and you could have some really gorgeous guppers in there!
jude
Oh No. Too late Blue. I got the harlequin rasboras today - but I've always liked them so I'm content with the choice. Thanks for the offer though Cheers Jude
Faran
No worries, I'll let you pick some out someday when you come visit us as neighbours. You'll probably end up babysitting a few during a move so you can decide if you like them or not
jude
I will babysit fish to help you and Kim if you move over here but I already know I don't like guppies much. Perhaps I am just not maternal enough    Cheers Jude
Caper
I've rearranged I was wondering about rearranging my 2 (darn, wish I had more) tanks. I want to do some rearranging, not just yet, maybe in another week or two...want to give my guys that had the trouble with the flashing some time to rest! Does this cause the fish much stress? And if I wanted to switch something between tanks (e.g. ornament) what is the best way to clean so nothing can get transferred? Also, I had removed an ornament way back when I was having trouble with the fish that were flashing, thought maybe it was the cause. Anyway, I had it soaking in Javex and water for the last few weeks. I took it out yesterday and rinsed and rinsed, how will I know if all the bleach is removed? jude
It does stress the fish a bit but they seem to cope ok. I recently redid my larger tank and I did it in stages to allow the fish to settle. I doubt they can remember anyway so each time it will be "new"   Cheers Jude
Caryl
Give it a good sniff caper. If you can't smell bleach then it should be OK.
klaymann
throw the ornament into a bucket of tank water with a "guinea pig" fish and see how it goes ?? :-?
