HelifaxNZ
Hi, I'm interested to find out what colour and type of paint you use to paint the back of your tank. Cheers Helifax.

SteveA
None at all, I hang plastic sheeting behind the tank. Currently black, but I am thinking of trying dark blue. One day I might even try to put in a picture of a sunken fishing boat (just kidding.... I think). Steve
Matt
Hi Helifax, I use Blackboard spraypaint as advised by Kim and it works great, you can pick up a can from Mitre 10 for $10-$15 (can't remember the exact amount). Cheers, Matt
suphew
Yeah oil based spray paint, do it after all your holes etc are drilled, I like blue but some people like black, haven't really seen any other colours. Check out the pictures of chim's tank it shows the blue back ground off well.

petplanet
Brush on black board paint. If is a large tank you will go through a lot of cans - I used 4 on a 4 foot. 1 litre of brush on costs about $60 and will do heaps of tanks. HelifaxNZ
Thanks everyone for your feedback and thanks Chimera for the link. I tried to find another thread on this but obviously missed this one. Cheers!
klaymann
Everyone has their own preference but having oil based black hides all the fittings protruding into the tank plus hides the crap( if u have it) growing on the back glass .. and being oil based won't lift if water gets back there ( as can happen!) ... coloured back drop sheets do tend to reflect light shimmers so stay clear of them if you can afford to... but thats just my 2 cents worth
Drifty
I brushed on black board paint
Mark
I bought some black material from spotlight and taped it to the back of the tank. Looks great and if i get bored with the colour i can easily change it.
