Betta and a 5.7ltr tank

The little tank that I just got isn't really suitable for what I origionaly brought it for, rearing fry and breeding guppies. I was wondering if a single Betta would be ok in this? It has a 3 stage filter and heater in there.

Desperatly finding a use for this tank :(

Cheers

i know that i prefer the smallest of tanks for a betta to be 12L - but im sure u will find alot of people will say that that size is fine - i guess it will really depend on wat size tank ur beta is already used to - mine hate going into anything smaller than the 12l they sulk really badly

Well at the pet store they are all in little breeding traps on the side of the tanks. Would contain about 2-3 cups of water at most so this tank would be bigger. Its to be for a single betta only. No other fish included.

Next thing being the size that it is would a couple of plastic plants be ok instead of real? I am setting this up for someone else and I want to make it as low matinence as possible for her.

Cheers

you mean the $2 shop for silk plants Caryl?? Excellent idea! lol I got to find out if she will even want this yet lol. Going ot kinda spring it on her then set it up. But if she doesn't want it then I guess I get a fish to go in the tank or sell the tank :(

Why would anyone sell a 5.7 liter tank? Is that supposed to be for mossies or what? I mean, aquarium manufacturers need to be told that they're subjecting fish to lives of cruelty by being put into a tank that the owner purchased thinking was a safe and normal environ for their new guppies. Not so. I hate it when I see Bettas stuck in tiny cups or in breeder nets. This is the same thing.

:o:o:( Well I have no idea what else to use the tank for :( I have been told that Bettas will be ok in there (going by whats said on the net) and I do know that the bigger the tank the better but I wasn't to know that when I brought it. The filter ran to fast for my fry (what it was origionaly going to be used for) so I am having to find something else as with that comment in other peoples mind I doubt that others will want to buy it now :(

I will put a pick up of what the tank looks like.

I have currently got two layers of thick stocking over it and it still didn't slow down so my husband put a button up in the filter outlet into the box up top which has restricted the water flow nicely. I don't really want to use it now for fry as fry need to be seperated for up to 2 months and with the amount of fry that can be droped at a time, when a month has passed they will be to big for the amount of fish in that tank. Thats why I am considering a Betta. I have read that the min size tank for a betta is 1 gal. This tank is 1.5 gal. I can remove the filter (they dont' like current) and take the gravel out for easy cleaning and reduce the chances of ammonia spikes and easier cleaning.
