Brianemone
i just received my first internet order from eaquanature the cost was one advantage and i was prepared to wait for them to arrive, but the good news is they only took 7 days to arrive (i would assume that a lfs would take longer to get it in) so tommorow after a quick trip to Dick smiths i will put in my seio 1100's into my 22 gallon tank the seio's will give me a 100x turn over i might only be able to use one . ill put up some pics tomorrow night
chimera
sweet as dude, looking forward to getting my M1100's as well! already got a couple of power plugs to fit on! dont go dick smith, they're a rip off. try an electrical store. i think one will be sufficient in your tank until you upgrade,... 100x turnover = washing machine! Pies
hehehehe. Ohhh don't forget to read the RC forums about the dispropotional number of Seio's catching fire and exploding (not joking). 100x turnover, say good bye LPS & mushrooms, say hello UBER SPS! Nice work. Brianemone
well after a short trip to the local electrical supplier and a small distraction of signing my life away for the next 30 years, the seios are in and running one is using the casing on it and the other is not. i think i will remove the casing from the second as well the first thing i noticed was that it was like a little tornado was being turned on then i noticed that the xenia was almost being blown off the rocks then i noticed that even though there is about 5x the total flow now, it seems alot more peacefull without the little jets of water from the normal power heads. all good so far
Brianemone
poor little fishies they dont know what to do, half of their little brains are telling them to play in the current while the other half tells them to run for their lives

chimera
that is quite funny, mine did the same. took it out and thought the motor had blown or something. one of the wires on the nzl plug was a bit touch and go so re wired it and it was sweet. mine come on with the lights too. i noted you said "stream" (note: singular, not plural) for $500... suphew
Mine is on a timer that has 15 minutes intervills, I randomly flicked them on and off, so my stops and starts 10-20 times a day with no problems.

Personally I wouldn't do that. Switching pumps like this on and off will reduce their life dramatically. The motors are not designed to be switched regularly. The inrush current everytime it is switched will eventually kill them. But if you are prepared to replace them every year or so, fine. suphew
I'm not really too worried, @ $100 if I get a year or two worth of random movement I'm happy. Far cheaper than a steam, which I would proberly only run at half power anyway. I have couple of very cheap Jebo powerheads that I ran the same way for around 9 months and still going fine, I have removed them now but only cause I changed tanks and there too small to be useful.
