fishgirl53
Hi I collected a few seashells from the beach just wondering if they will be ok to put into a chiclid tank thanks
Ira
They'll be fine. Give them a rinse to get any garbage off and throw them in.
alexyay
What kind of cichlids are they?
camtang
Just be careful to make sure they are big enough for them not to get stuck.
fishgirl53
I have blue dolphins yellows
camtang
Yellows are bad for getting stuck in shells. I lost a couple in a big shell I had in my tank a few years ago
alexyay
Yup, good to go with Africans (except for the above, if they're likely to get stuck then it's not so good) - shells are good for the water as Africans appreciate a high pH, and shells slowly break down and raise the KH and pH. Make sure they're empty to prevent anything rotting in them.
fishgirl53
thank you all these shells are reasonably flat nothing could get stuck in them
