binu Posted March 17, 2015 Report Share Posted March 17, 2015 hi all just wantin to know every ones suggestions about it just a small project to keep me busy is it cheaper ? its a nano tank any one knows any cheaper place got a quote of nearly 50 $ for 5 pieces of acrylic 30 cm x 30cm 5 mm thick ness is it costly than glass? 89crwreck Posted March 20, 2015 Report Share Posted March 20, 2015 i made an acrylic tank 30cm x 30cm x 60cm from 12mm sheet a couple years back.i used acrifix 192 to glue it all together. turned out mint. if edges are prepped properly it will be crystal clear once glued. a LOT nicer looking than silicone especially on a small tank. Silicon is ok as long as there is pretty much no load on the joint, such as holding something in place. But if you want it to hold a load like a fishtank, expect failure.
