What paint works inside tank?

What sort of paint can I use to paint a piece of plastic in my tank black.

I need something that is both non toxic and that will last in salt water

Is their anything available????

I'd be surprised if there is anything. Personally wouldn't risk it. Depending on what it is, you could use some coloured perspecs and glue it over the offening area.

You could try painting it with any kind of paint and then cover it with polyurethane. That should be non-toxic and will protect the paint.

i use black board paint!!!!!!! it gives you a lovely sharp black, but you have to put 3-4 coats on and YES IT IS SAFE FOR YOUR FISH!!!!

hang on re read it, paint can only be used on outside, get black plastic it might cost more but is safe on your fish

Hi - i may be missing the point, but can i ask why you would want to paint the inside rather than the outside? a) you can't maintain it, b) it is toxic. Maybe you just didnt realise this ? If you did want to colour from the inside, the acrylic plastic is the only route - but i would be careful even with that - as some plastics can still leech out toxins. Let us know what route you decide on aye ?

There is a paint called G4. You can get it at fish pond outlets or some LFS places .

A little bit of rock and coralline algae should disguise it good enough in no time!!

I know the guys at spary store here in christchurch do have a paint which can go on the inside of a tank (not on the glass ) but plastic is fine, its a paint which is designed for wells.

anal fin - thats interesting. might be worth posting the info on the post. do you know if the paint comes in different colours (im thinking one which matches coralline algae

i don't understand why you just paint the outside of the tank. glass was transparent last time i looked otherwise, as everyone else has stated coralline will eventually cover it.
