Silverdollarboy2
So I'm in the process of setting up a 183x61x61 tank. My stocking will be 4 silver dollars 2 red hump earth eaters 2 golden bristlenose 6 clown loaches 2 spotted mettynnis I can't start the cycle until my birthday (march) The stand got put in today
Totara
Nice stand, did you get it with the tank? If I was you I would add in some more clown loaches, they have some really cool group behavior, especially when feeding.
Silverdollarboy2
Yep got the stand with the tank.I will let the biofilter get established before I add more fish.
Totara
Wait so your going to add all those fish in at once? That will overload your biofilter I would think. I would start with the bristlenoses, or a bigger school of silver dollars.
Silverdollarboy2
No I'm going to add the spotted mettynnis and silver dollars first.
Totara
No I'm going to add the spotted mettynnis and silver dollars first. Oh ok, well it looks really good! Is it going to be planted? Any other details on it?

Silverdollarboy2
just a quick shot of the tank. It will need a good clean and I'll need to repaint the back.
Silverdollarboy2
A bit of progress,The back has been repainted and I've removed all the coral sand that the previous owner left in it.
Totara
Looking good. Are you going to be DIY'ing the stand etc?
blueether
You know that tank would look awesome with a few giant and a few more banded kokopu and some redfins... But I'll let you get away with tropical with clowns and eartheaters. When I have the space for a large tropical I want a school of Geophagus altifrons/surinamensis
Silverdollarboy2
My Dad wants to see natives in this tank aswell but I'm definitely having silver dollars it.

Silverdollarboy2
A bit of an update...whilst this tank looked real cool in it new location with two aqua one nautilus 2700 canister filters and two eheim jager 300 w heaters. It is with sadness that I have to report that we had to empty the tank due to an annoying leak. Well we are embarking on a mission to remove the sealant around the base of this tank as it was apparently sealed by the former owner to seal up a undisclosed patched up crack. Dad and I are now removing the sealant and all being well it will be re-sealed properly so I can reinstate my fish tank to its full former glory. I have also rethought my stocking to include: 3 Silver dollars 4 spotted metynnis 4 - 6 clown loaches 2 Red hump Geophagus Plus more if I see something I like Watch this space... http://iforce.co.nz/i/corhyxhx.bos.jpg http://iforce.co.nz/i/ou0gu513.3fp.jpg
Adrienne
How annoying! Good experience for you though in learning how to do it.
Silverdollarboy2
How annoying! Good experience for you though in learning how to do it. Thanks! Yeah it is a bit annoying. I like the look of holpo catfish. Would this tank suit them?
Silverdollarboy2
Tank is all resealed. :dnc1: I've got to let it cure then the excitement starts. :happy1:
Silverdollarboy2
:cry1: Water tested last night... Looked alright until I saw a leak on the bottom of the front pane that was hidden by the tape around the bottom. I have decided too forget it as its getting to hard so there will be no more of this tank.
Adrienne
Normally it is best to take the tank completely apart, clean off every last scrap and glue it together again. Is there no one near you who would assist? Hawkes Bay has a club with a number of experienced fishkeepers in it.
