I got a peacock from hollywood as a jacobfreibergi peacock. Could you please tell me what you think and maby what type of jacobfreibergi it is or weather it's a hybrid? Hes is sub adult but suspect hel be similar when he is bigger. thanks.
rcon021
It doesn't have the body shape of a jacobfreibergi but not sure what it could be. Possible some sort of Stuartgranti. Can rule out benga as well, because of the blue/white on the fin. Need more colour to give you a good answer.
bigfishhead
The body color looks close to Lemon Jake. The top fin looks like red empress. I would say give it a bit more time to show more color.
rcon021
Lemon jakes have yellow dorsal fins. No other colour
bigfishhead
Lemon jakes have yellow dorsal fins. No other colour Yeah.. Thats why I thought the dorsal fins is more close to red empress or red kadango type. But the current body color is quite close to Lemon Jack or Jacobfreibergi Undu Reef. Hard to tell for now... Daz
Thanks guys. Il give him a little more time. Photo does not do it any justice! I will try get a better photo with a better camera. I have 1 male and 2 females. They have spawned but I did not keep them due to not knowing what they are. All 3 from same spawn though which is good. nudge
Agree with rcon body shape is wrong for a jacob hybrid of some type
ryanjury
Looks stuartgranti type to me too, definitely not jacob (or lemon jake) probably one of the male stuartgranti type hybrids but only time will tell, end of the day if you don't know what it is now you will probably never know for sure unless you can track its history - breeder/import etc.
livingart
A few more generations of breeding and all resultant fry as adults looking the same may give an idea of what they are.
