blueether
I have one of those, and it seems to be within .5 to 1 deg of the more expensive ones that I have. It does seen to wander a little bit in its difference, where all 4 of the other ones I have are all with in .2 of each other This is subjective as none of them have been tested against a calibrated thermometer
Ira
Yeah, they're fine.
smidey
i had one of those but it seemed to be all over the place when the battery starts to get low. I use the glass ones but like you have had a few broken ones after the fish crash into them. i just replace the glass ones.

Adrienne
Glass are the most reliable and their batteries don't run out
camtang
I have also had issues with these. I can put all 5 of my in the same place of a tank and they will range from 22-31. I agree the glass ones seem the most reliable, but they break from time to time.

brendo
Digital thermometers are pretty easy to calibrate. Half full a cup with crushed ice and add enough water to cover the ice. Let the ice partially dissolve. Submerse the probe into mixture. This should read as zero the variance should be added/subtracted from the reading you get in your tank
