DomDaw
Does anyone know of any places that I could find some tadpoles at? I don't want to pay $3 per tadpole, it's ridiculous! Thanks so much in advance if anyone can share, I promise I won't take many.

DomDaw
What are you talking about?? I saw the 10 for 15$ on trade me. Was thinking about buying them as I only need 10 or so.
Insect Direct
some times it's just easier to pay a few bucks for tadpoles than to go raid nature.
DomDaw
That's very true. Driving out to the nearest pond would be about 20$ anyway. The thing is the person I'm looking at buying them off got them from a damn up north anyway.

markvs
Used to be a lot in the various ponds at the domain, but I don't know legalities of sourcing them from there.

I think any you find in the wild are more likely to be introduced frogs, so the more you take out of the wild the better.
Insect Direct
first lot of whistlers I came across years ago I thought would be neat to take some ... never seen them there again. felt a little guilty but whatever probably just luck of the draw. yeah natives don't have tadpoles and most frogs found are indeed introduced. people that winge about prices then go catch them often chuck them on tm for the same price anyway .. funny ppl out there. All the time and trouble of finding them, fuel to drive there, a couple hours splashing around in muck, time dealing with trademe flakes... DomDaw
Yeah 3$ per tadpole does sound like an alright deal. I just have the enthusiasm to go do it myself
aotealotl
first lot of whistlers I came across years ago I thought would be neat to take some ... never seen them there again. if you need whistlers there are millions of them down here around Naseby (it is bloody loud every night) if you need some, let me know, you only have to pay for shipping. unfortunately I haven't found any green ones so far. may have to buy some on TM as well (even if I think it's wrong to make money with tadpoles from the wild)
