Jaxxnz
Yeah baby!! just added to my collection' Datniod Tiger.. :happy1: picked up a couple of 300mm Tiger, looked like Indo Tiger or American Tiger i Think.. Any1 here with some knowledge on what type of Tiger is mostly here in NZ? has 6 bar, but hard to see the balck bar on the back fin.. The most amazing things about these guy is "Make some noise!!! :happy1: absolutely most powerful jaws striking fish.. As a predator" I reckon in a death battle these guy will give mean azz damage to other fish real easy.. I alway wanted a Dat/Borneo Tiger :happy2: ..................The big the better :slfg: "That i should of bought you Tiger, and got u first' Should have gave u all my hrs, whenever i have the chance" take to you some Hikari sticks, cause all u want to do was dance" Now my tiger is dancing, and it dancing in my tank" uh uh uh uhh :slfg:

David R
They certainly hit the food hard when hungry!
henward
yeah, they also take a fish live from about 10 cms away from their mouths. they suck the fish in and as if , it automatically descales the fish as it enters their stomach! love them! lan on having 4 of them in new tank. they also get very very large. but thats ok. post a vid! or pic. as for whats avail. you get indos, you get wide bar INDOs, not true widebars, they are ultra rare... i have seen some new guineas ages ago, thats ages ago. i have seem many oddballs in term sof pattern, american tigers avail too. would love a Norther thailand thin bar, but dont really come in. David R
You've seen an NGT here?! I'd love a thin-bar too, they're cool fish alright. I've only ever seen indos and American tigers in the flsh, but have seen pics of what could have been a true widebar. The number of bands on the base of the tail is the give-away. They do get massive though, biggest I've seen would have to be the widebar belonging to Richard aka T1KARMANN from MFK in London. My pics don't to it justice, it is a truly massive fish, 20-24" long and about a foot tall. Kinda hard to get an idea of the scale when everything else is so big, tank is 3' tall and 6' front to back, rays are 2'+ disc and the aro is a good 75cm+. Best thing about it is it's always perfectly stable.
henward
ages ago, i believe i saw a NGT - though, like you said, it could be hard to tell... i am sure it was an NGT or at least it looked like it. but in saying that, i would probably retract and say... that we dont cos really, if it is a one off, then cant really confirm it was! lol
Fruju
One of the best 'Monster' fishes here.

Fruju
there are only Indos here, Americans and thais worth a lot more in overseas. Wrong. American tiger was also here. I had one. So did henward.
Fruju
Value goes in this order: ST, NGT, NTT, INDO/American. ST's are hard to find anywhere, go for like 1500 pounds in UK.
henward
concur with the Fraser. american tiger comes in . in fact, hff roskill may hav eone now. i had one in the past. widebar is rare, ultra rare, you get wide bar indos, look very similar but not true widebar they are ultra rare, i have seen them at 3k each in singapore at a small size! i have also seen pictures of leucistic ones. american is cool, really active, more so than the others. if you google my youtube account, henward888 had what seemed like a wide bar or a widebar indo. not sure. one of my oldest vids. Jaxxnz
Hold up! It seem that my one looked like a Indo or ST.. I will try to up load pic..kind of hard to tell ID if u don't take much note of fish.. Anyway I just want the beast to grow bigger and bigger every day :lar: David: looking back at those clown loaches pics now... sorry to say this but I think u were real mad man when u had that whole group of loaches.. :sage:
David R
Jack there are many ITs that look like true Siamese, but the key difference is the number of bars on the base of the tail. This pic shows it more clearly; With IT the last bar comes down across the base of the tail and then there are two other smaller bars, with the ST there is only the last bar and one other. You can see it clearly with the pic of the massive ST I posted before. Here is a pic of my old 'false ST', had the big stripes like a widebar, but can still see the two bands on the tail. The other side had a different pattern.
Fruju
The true ST has a a deeper body too, far more solid from what I have seen in pics. Easy to distinguish when they are massive. I had a widebar indo back in the day as well, regretted selling it.
