Hali
Soooo! I wana buy a 6ft tank for sale in Auckland! I live in Hamilton.. What do you reckon about transport? >.< Trailer and 2 X bits of 4x2 underneath to carry it? Any tips? Should I put it on poly in the trailer maybe? calculator
Sounds like it might work, but i would be worried about stones flicking up off the road on the drive and chipping or cracking the tank. So would suggest you use something around the tank (bit of polystyrene/old bit of ply/something else) as a precautionary measure just in case. Hali
A super King duvet? I just don't want to do it if it's probably going to break no matter what.
Godly3vil
hire a horse float and you should be sweet, just use blankets and poly.
SamH
If I were moving a tank this size, I'd hire a trailer and put a thick duvet or two on the bottom. On top of that, I'd have a piece of ply with poly on top and then place the tank on that. I would then fold the duvet up the sides of the tank and into the top so there is no exposed glass that could come into contact with the trailer. If possible, secure with a rope or bungee cord. AquaFever
have done alot more tanks than that north shore to hastings. hired a furniture trailer. make sure the trailer is on springs and not solid axle. pack it well so it cant move and it should be fine. blueether
yep, I'd hire a small (single axle) furniture trailer and buy a couple of cheep strops from the wharehouse etc. and pack well

That is a good point, make sure the trailer has springs otherwise if you hit a large bump or two their is a good chnce of it cracking.
