randomsam1001
Hi guys, a pair of my emperor tetra have mated :happy2:, and I am wondering if anyone knows how long it takes for them to lay their eggs? thanks, Sam
Godly3vil
What do you mean by mated, usually that means they have laid and fertilized the eggs.
randomsam1001
they do a little dance with each other swimming in weird ways, on their side, upside down.

randomsam1001
not playing, I ruled out these earlier and mating was the only thing I could think of at the time. They are all in good health
rabid
I would say in that case they are courting, which under the right circumstances could lead to mating.
randomsam1001
thanks guys, probably courting, does anyone know how long after they court, do they lay eggs :dunno:
Adrienne
If you have the right conditions in the aquarium, ie plenty of clumps of moss or spawning mops near the bottom the female will scatter eggs during the courting process. They do not lay, as in attach their eggs to the glass or rocks but they just release (scsatter) them and if there is plenty of cover the eggs will not be eaten by the parents.
