Bigmills
Every one in their under tank Kingdom. Im Anthony 26 Male from Auckland Used to breed fish when I was younger and have just got back into it just bought 12 new tanks and with 9 I already have I should be having lots of fun in no time. By the way clap clap to plantman those are very impressive plant tanks. So Anyone feel free to give me a few tips on if anything has changed over the last Six years technology has come a long way are we keeping our fish in Air tight gravity defying containers with no water yet. I used to have Live bearers, Kribensis, Gouramis, Angels, Danios, tetras and cat fish all were fun my favourite would have to be the Kribensis, I get annoyed in books where they take pics of poor specimens with no colour they are very beautiful with great colours. Any one in Auckland that wants to drop me a line feel free. Anthony
Pegasus
Hi Anthony, ... welcome to the NZ Fishroom. Twelve tanks... (or is that twenty one.. twelve you just bought plus nine you had).. that's a pretty big re-entry after being away for six years, but I'm sure they will soon be occupied. Lots of Aucklanders here, plus there's another part of the site that you will find by clicking on the FNZAS logo at the top left of the screen. There is also a Guppy and livebearer club being formed if you are still interested in livebearers.. (details in Livebearer Section) Look forward to your posts Bill. Bigmills
Thanks Bill for the warm welcome Yeah my nan said in a nanna voice "You need to do something with all those glass tanks under the house if your not going to use you shoud sell them" So what did I do bought more and collected the rest and your right 21 and I keep buying more off trade me there are heaps of people into it and heaps of people tired of fish aswell. So the tank numbers will keep rising Im in the process of setting up a 17 tank filtration system using an old spa pool heat pump through a 1000 litre water tank trying to get the flow right as we speak and my garage could probably hold another 20+ tanks just getting my friend who works for a scrap yard to weld another 16 unit frame together. Its hard work doing things you love haha Just to let everyone know for a Job Im an Internal Auditor so I travel the whole of New Zealand so if there are any good fish specials I'll bring them back on the plane. Alan
Welcome aboard Bigmill (BM) to this site. We have a chat room at 9.00 most evenings, see the top of the page. Open til the head hits the keyboard, last one out is to turn off the light to conserve power. I too am a breeder, concentrating mainly on killifish, although I have been known to do a few cichlids, danios and livebearers, oh, and one or two others as well. I have in excess of 100 tanks. Also a big power bill. Hope others, other than Aucklanders, can post to you. NZ ain't that big. Alan
mustcooktea
Welcome aboard Bigmill! I couldn't imagine having the time or space for that many tanks but sometimes a little break from something can lead to new enthusiasm. Talking about tanks and trademe, I have to admit to being very jealous of all the good tank deals that are up in Auckland. With that many tanks we are sure to hear lots from you. Caryl
Hi and welcome Anthony. I don't think much has changed in the past 6 years in the fish keeping world. Different filtration systems come and go and I like to think product quality improves. Maybe see you in chat sometime.
Shelley
21 tanks?......COOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL! and to whoever had the hundred odd tanks...how much IS your power bill? I agree with mustcooktea......i am always clicking on tanks for sale on trademe, and finding them in AUCKLAND. (probably just as well). I think I have spent about $1000 on fishies and stuff for them (including the tank) in the last couple of months (shhhhh no-one tell my husband) Would love to hear what you are going to do with all those tanks
