newaqua
Hey all. Just wondering if anyone puts rusty objects in their tanks. I have an old, very rusty crescent here (it has been sitting in my dads fishing boat for years). Any ideas if it would do anything to the tank? alanmin4304
If the water is acid it will dissolve iron into solution as the ferrous ion and various other changes to conditions may then convert the iron to the ferric state which is far less soluble and will drop out of solution leaving iron stains on everything like some people get on their bath or WC. livingart
running a marine tank is a fine line of maintaining balance in water parameters
Ira
Probably best to give it a good coat of something like polyurethane to seal it first.
