DennisP
I just replaced the ceramic shaft which was broken, which has somewhat helped, however.... I have filled the whole thing with water and it is siphoning fine from a bucket, but when I plug in the filter, it makes its noise, and stops pumping. I know these filters are annoyingly tricky to get working and I have tried finding a solution, but its hard to sift through all the information out there... F15hguy
is the shaft seated correctly in the rubber bit at the bottom of the impeller housing?? (and the top?) Did you replace the impeller as well, if you are getting noise then it sounds like the motor is working and the impeller is the problem, it may have worn down and become unbalanced when it was running with a broken shaft
DennisP
I may have just attached the hoses the wrong way around... Will update and probably delete thread out of shame

peaceNchaos
Spent hours trying to figure out the same thing years ago when my brother asked me to help him set up his turtle tank, we were bout ready to return it before we tried the hoses the other way round lol :sml1:
Godly3vil
LOL, can't say I've ever had that problem before but at least I know now if I do. Also Dennis, you don't have to fill the canister with water before you restart it, just make sure you close the hose taps while it is still running and then open them once you plug it back in, it should act like a siphon and refill itself and once it has plug it back in.
