Fruju
I am a second year student at the University of Auckland studying a double major in Marine ecology and Geography with the intention to postgrad after the completion of my bachelors. I am looking for some work experience over the summer break in the fields of aquaculture and fisheries, and although I am applying at multiple firms in New Zealand I was wondering whether there are any employment opportunities that you may know of? Thank you, Fraser
#!CrunchBang
Why didn't you just do a marine ecology degree? same thing really and pretty much everyone ends up friends in the ecology group. On the jobs front, I should really be looking too as this is my last semester, (terrestrial / fresh water ecology and envsci)
Fruju
I did start off doing that; and since a lot of the papers crossed over the double major seemed like a better option. Now I have multiple fields of knowledge rather than just one. Already made friends on the ecology front. Yeah I want to get some job experience before others, gives you a head start after finishing the degree. I want to do either a postgraddip or honours afterwards too, so it's still a while to go. Fruju
Aquariums don't take on many people and there are a lot of applicants, they usually prioritise the people with the degree...obviously. But yeah, fisheries and aquaculture are my main ones, but if kelly tarltons said they would hire me heck yeah I would go.

Yeah, I guess I'm doing a double specialisation with ecology and envsci, only had to add envsci 310 to do it :slfg: Hope you've got a dive licence if you want to go in the marine direction. Fruju
Yeah man so easy to get the enviro specialisation! Barely any papers to get it! Had my PADI since I was 13/14. Going to try and get it up to master level this summer.
