stretford_end
As topic, I heard that the tetras might go for the guppies' tails? Cheers.
F15hguy
Cochu's are quite bad at fin nipping ime if you want to try though have a school af at least 10 cochu's so they play with each other instead of the guppies

I got 6 Cochus at the moment. I wonder whether it helps if I get more guppies than the cochus to out number them.

F15hguy
its not about out numbering, it about the cochu's playing with each other and the guppies playing with themselves. more cochus and more guppies, or else no guppies and lotsa cochus. or you could go wildstrain guppies which dont really have the tail to nip. karina
Welcome Stretford_end I keep 6 Cochus in with lots of other fish and have never witnessed them nipping at others tails only each other. Mind you I don't keep guppies, but have long fin zebra danios and they leave them alone. Good luck

stretford_end
Just an update, they are getting on fine. My tank already have 6 cochu blue tetras, 5 penguin tetras and various gouramis before. Got 4 fancy guppies over the weekend and they all just mind their own business.
stretford_end
spoke too soon, I now noticed that I am missing one guppy. And one of my cochu blue tetras got a suspicious looking large stomach... I looked all over and can't find the body. The other 3 guppies are fine though... Caryl
Circumstantial evidence As they were newly introduced, it could be one guppy did not cope with the stress and died - then got eaten by the opportunistic cochu. Many of those fancy guppies seem to drop dead at the slightest provocation!
F15hguy
yes, slight provocation such as being munched
