Sheepsnana Posted July 24, 2012 Report Share Posted July 24, 2012 Hi All, Our LFS has a goldspot pleco in stock (They're calling it something else, but the colouration is a dead giveaway) At home I have a redspot pleco (sailfin). Both of these guys are still very little compared to how large they are going to get. I am thinking that my 300L tank (1200 x 500 x 500) will only JUST be big enough for one, and he may need something larger LATER ON. If I got this goldspot as well, how much sooner would I need to separate them? Will they fight for the same territory? I know that my large female ancistrus caused a bit of fin tearing before she was moved to the other tank. The wife has already said no to me getting another pleco in the same tank, this is purely hypothetical. zuri08 Posted July 24, 2012 Report Share Posted July 24, 2012 That is no where near big enough i had 3 25cm ones in a 1200.60.60 for a few weeks and that was pushing it they need alot of space and i personally dont think shops should be selling them as most people dont realise they can get to 60cm+ even a 30 cm pleco would need 60+ depth to be comfortable in Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I haven't had them out to measure, but when they're up against the glass the redspot is about 450mm plus a bit of tail, the goldspot is quite a bit smaller, say 300mm.
