blueether
After loosing one of my biggest inanga to some unknown lump it now looks like another of the big 2 yr olds has come down with a columnaris infection. I doubt I'll be able to catch it in the big tank with all the driftwood and caves. photos to come if I can...
Zev
Where does it sleep when the lights are out? An extra pair of hands and a torch may make catching it easier in the dark.
blueether
They all sleep under the biggest bit of driftwood, that is right at the back of the tank under another bit of twisty wood For now I'm just treating the whole tank with salt, 2kg went in over the last 12h for a dosage rate of between 5 and 6g/l. Will see how things go.
Stella
Yes just nuke the whole tank with salt. Increase the maintenance (water changes) and replace the salt removed each time. Good luck!
Godly3vil
What type of salt do you use?
Stella
Sodium chloride I use just plain old table salt, there is no basis in the fears that the anti-caking agents have any negative effect, they are at such incredibly low concentrations as to be insignificant. blueether
I managed to catch the offending inanga just a few min a go and have it in a 20l bucket atm that it is activly trying to jump out of, might hust be too stressfull in there did a ~50% w/c today and will keep up the salt. Godly3vil, I normally have a kg or two of high quality aquarium tonic salt on hand, I buy this from the local bininn as 'rocksalt' but this time it is just table salt
aotealotl
dish washer salt is also just salt w/o any additives like iodine - that's what is recommended to nuke axolotl when they get a coat
