Squirt
:nfs: how long are your acracidia bulbs? And what percentage? They are expensive at 60cm ($66 ea) so I wouldn't like to know the cost of a 6' one
henward
Yeah, he has grown a lot, and getting thick! Colour is definitealy developing, it has developed massively in the last couple months and almost day to day the scales are getting lighter rims and sprawling orange to the scale base. Curious what the tanning does, if all accounts overseas are true, tanning should make a mighty difference!! after 6 months, i will replace the bulb and move into a proper reptile sun lamp, 10% uvb. excited!! i got the last of the 4 foot underwater tanning lights. its on the website. its made specifically for aros apparently but i believe its just a reptile style bulb with different colouration. https://www.arcadia-uk.info/product.php?pid=77&mid=10&lan=en⊂=&id=4 it actually is in the water in a waterproof casing. and this is the bulb https://www.arcadia-uk.info/product.php?pid=76&mid=10&lan=en⊂=&id=4 specs on on this site

henward
dunno essentially, it just gives more 'sunlight' into the tank, directly in to the water. time will tell, see how it goes. im building up from 4 hours, after 1 week, ill put up 1 to 2 hours every wek untill it reaches full cycle of 'lights on' and the tanning light is on all day. i wont do 24/7 like some keeper sin asia do, i think this may stress the fish. they need 'night' im sure. blueether
i wont do 24/7 like some keeper sin asia do, i think this may stress the fish. they need 'night' im sure. Whats more important, your fishes colour or health/stress :digH:
henward
yeah agreed completely some would tan for so long, 24/7 - just not willing to put that sort of stress on the fish! some even tan when its tiny though the tanning process itself shouldnt and doesnt harm the fish as it is just m imicking sunlight in an outdoor pond but doing it all day with no night time at all is crazy
ally07
:nfs: I think it's time for me to 'drop by since I'm in the neighbourhood' soon haha. The hints of purple are really starting to come out nicely; the tanning should accentuate it even more. ...Have any spirulina powder companies approached you about sponsorship yet??
