zuri08
hi im just wondering if there are any benefits for using a wave maker in a 350 litre tank?or is it basically useless?
ryanjury
More circulation is always good seems to be really good for the fish and stops crud from settling on the bottom of the tank.
zuri08
ive already got a powerhead of 1200 l/h but i was going to buy one off trademe and its 5000l/h i thought that would be overkill in a 4 foot tank?
Tropheus
Washing machine! At least the fish would be clean :slfg:
ryanjury
I would be more inclined to buy another filter than put a 5000lph power head on a 4ft tank..
Ira
I would be more inclined to buy another filter than put a 5000lph power head on a 4ft tank.. You mean THEN put a 5000lph powerhead on a 4 foot tank. I used to have a Laguna PJ5000 in my 4X2X2 along with a pair of 3000LPH Seios and 2 CF1200s. So that's ideally a total of about 15,000 LPH. It was a reasonable amount of current, but not overwhelming. I've taken out the pond pump since then, so with just the two seios and 2 CF1200s it's pretty calm. But not stagnant looking like most tanks. alanmin4304
Just a waste of money. Move to Christchurch, we get them down here for free.
blueether
I have two 5000lph wavemakers in my 1200*600*600 along with the cf1200 filter. There is not too much current down the far end of the tank, i have both at the same end. My natives probably like more movement than Cichlids might, and some would like even more current than what I have in there. If you are looking at the cheep resun ones on TM then they are cheep for a reason , one of mine arived with a broken shaft, that was replaced promptly, and I managed to break another shaft when one started in reverse and sucked small stones in and I had to pull the cover off
smidey
is it one of those SOBO ones? if so then don't buy one, they are rubbish. i have one in my 2.0m tank for a bit of circulation, don't think you need one.
DYWLKR
I bought one recently for my kola tank but surprisingly they didn't like it that much. They kept low and didn't want to be anywhere near the current.
