Sheepsnana
Nearly finished! I've decided against gluing the final two boards on, cutting holes for the filter cables and tubes, and installing a whole bunch of hinges. There's a simpler solution: MAGNETS! Hot glue gun a couple of Windsor's 1180 Door Magnetic catches to the inside of the plywood, and it's done. Strong enough to keep the kids out, but easy enough to move around to allow the tubes and cords to go over the top of the boards at the back. :happy1: :happy2: :happy1: Getting closer and closer to moving my fish, starting to get nervous.
Sheepsnana
Tada! The cupboards turned out great. I'm going to leave the back one off for the time being so that the power plug doesn't get bent all the wrong way. Time to load in the filter....      :tears:
anthony law
oooo no bugger... i like my filters on the outside makes easyer to maintane... more the tank away from the corner and fit the filter on the side of the tank in that corner. its still hidein....in the corner...and the flow is then running along the length of the tank... or gets some 4by 2 put under the legs to lift the tank stand up... Sheepsnana
Now there are two parts to the shelf, and the tank is inside. Time to add gravel, and prime filter
Sheepsnana
Here's the plan.... 1) Clean new substrate and add to 245L tank. 2) Partially drain 90L tank into 50L tank. 3) Move fish from 90L tank into 50L tank. 4) Move heater from 90L tank to 245L tank, add additional new heater to 245L tank. 5) Drain 90L tank completely. 6) Remove plants and gravel from 90L to 245L. 7) Here's where I'm stuck. Do I a) Add the tank water from the 50L tank and fish first, or b) Mostly fill the 245L tank with new water and conditioner first, then add tank water, and acclimate the fish? blueether
7:c Use the drained water from the 90 L tank to start to fill the 245L tank, then use tap water and water conditioner
Sheepsnana
7:c Use the drained water from the 90 L tank to start to fill the 245L tank, then use tap water and water conditioner I wish I could, but this isn't an option. I need the gravel from the 90L to finish the 245L, as shown below
Sheepsnana
Stuff it, I'll buy more gravel :slfg:
blueether
Have you got the under gravel filter to the front? I would have thought the silicon on the other side would be tidier?
Sheepsnana
It would have been, but the back is tinted, and the holes for the canister filter are on the back too. so the un-used internal filter has been brought to the front. Please excuse the bad lighting... and lunch on the table... Other than that, it's looking pretty good. No fake plants this time, and the fake coral has been removed also. #!CrunchBang
Should trim the hoses to and from the canister filter to get better flow.
Sheepsnana
The instructions said to, but I was unsure if it was necessary... The fish are all still moving, that's got to be a good sign
Cricketman
The slight increase in flow is not equal to the value it is to have longer hose, when you work on canister, and, you may not neccesarily using that exact setup for the life of the canister. i.e moving to another tank if/when u upgrade to another filter or tank. anthony law
where did you get the plants from.. also that indan fern needs to be in the back as they grow very large..also you can have it floating..
Sheepsnana
The swords, Lysa, and purple/green plants were from Animal Antics, about $6 each. Most have tripled in size over two months, the Lysa keeps growing to reach the surface. The Java moss, which I got from LivingArt, had a few stow-aways in it, which was the java fern and a couple more little ones - similar to swords. The java ferns have tripled in size over a couple of weeks and the sword-like plants are coming along slowly also. Panaramic photo:
