Java Moss

Hi - I have a big clump of Java Moss kinda stuck to driftwood, it looks real cool except that bits always seem to be breaking off and so they go towards the filter intake part and clog that up - annoys the hell outta me cause if I dont notice it then algae can start on the glass, I guess filter not taking anything in due to Java Moss, nearly ready to get rid of it. Any ideas before I do that? Thanks

Get rid of it, I hate that crap. All it's ever done for me is collected debris and killed a tank full of fully grown SA Cichlids.

Give it to someone with a bare fry tank, as it is good for that, but otherwise try and get it out of your tank. As you have noticed, it drifts off, clogs the filter, and wraps around other plants and stuff. I have it in my tank as it must have been attached to another plant since I never actually added it myself. It just keeps growing and strangling everything.

Replace it with Java fern or Anubias on the log.

Hey another idea instead of getting rid of it. Is use it in a fry tank or put it between to pieces of gutter guard then cable tie together. and stick it to the side of your tank. it ends up making a nice looking java moss wall....... But the best moss to use for that would be XMAS MOSS

I have just done that in my tank. I got plastic wind breaker mesh and cut to the size of my back wall but doubled. Filled it with java moss and folded it over and tied it shut with fishing line. I then stuck it to the glass with suction cups. The moss is starting to grow out already. A few months and I will have an awesome moss background :happy2:
