Scaleyvet
Hi there, I'm a vet in Wellington with a special interest in reptiles and amphibians, I had this forum recommended to me by a client. I love to see as many herps as possible and I used to keep a few when I lived in the UK. I work at Rappaw Vet Care in Paremata, the number is 04 2338059 I know it can be hard too find a vet with herp knowledge so please feel free to book in with me! Cheers, Tara
DonnaM
Yay for all the lucky reptile owners in Wellington! I may give you a call if stuck for some info down here  My turtle vet is cutting hours dramatically so a bit tricky to coincide at times. alanmin4304
Unfortunately it would cost a bit for a house visit down this way.
Scaleyvet
Thanks for the support great to see there are so many responsible herp keepers here (I'm from the Uk where it's a lot cheaper to keep reptiles so I find there are a lot of people keeping reptiles without doing the proper research) Go Nz Herps! Jangonz
How much would you charge per visit for a check up? I have a Bearded Dragon and I'm not too happy with the place we take him to at the moment
Scaleyvet
The current price for an exotic pet consultation is $38.50. This is less than for a cat or dog. It includes a full health check as well as a chat about any husbandry concerns that you may have. Tara

Scaleyvet
Haha do you know about Kevin Turner at Lynfield vets? He would be your best bet (although i'm not sure you could make him your wife!) Tara

the-obstacle
Lynfield vets are awesome for oddball pets that most vets won't look after. I take my birds there and I know others that have taken turtles and beardies too.
Scaleyvet
I know him as an aquaintance and he seems like a knowledgeable guy and he had been doing exotics for a while so I would say he would defo be worth a try! Have never worked with him tho.
Fenriswolf
Oo. Kinda off-topic, but are you into birds too? I'm actually a vet nurse at another vet but we don't have anyone who's really into exotics.
Scaleyvet
Hey there, I do like birds and am trying to see as many as possible but I would not say they are an area of expertise for me (reptiles and small mammals - bunnies, gp's, rats etc. - are my best areas). Always happy to see birds and I will never get up to scratch if I don't get more experience with treating them! Where do you work (pm me if u like?). Do you have birds? Fenriswolf
Ah, cool thanks.

Scaleyvet
Hi there, So sorry for the ridiculously late reply I am not the best at checking this as you can see! My Facebook page is called Small Pet Vet Wellington. So please feel free to join! It gives you a little more info on what I do and I post pics of cases regularly. Thanks!
