BomB191
Did my first water change this morning all 4 of them were fine. and i went to feed them just now and one of the boys were floating in the java weed :tears: :tears: would the water change do this or the spike in water temp? (I tried to make it close to tank temp) the other 3 seem to be fine at the moment
#!CrunchBang
how big was the water change? did you use anything to treat the water like stress coat?
BomB191
no stress coat (is that recommended during water changes?) about 10L from a 60L tank and topped up about 15L from evaporation
SamH
Probably didn't die as a result of the water change, I do 50% on 54L tanks with baby guppies, straight tap water, and they're all fine.

Guppies die if you happen to use the wrong tone of voice as you walk past the tank.
Joshlikesfish
Guppies die if you happen to use the wrong tone of voice as you walk past the tank. And they breed if you put them in water (assuming there is a mature boy and girl, just before Ira makes a comment...  )
BomB191
Guppies die if you happen to use the wrong tone of voice as you walk past the tank. :slfg: I think there mature (total breeding noob here) the other 3 still seem happy my temps currently at 24c but from what I have been reading is 26c better? for breeding etc just wondering
critter_crazy
Sorry about your boy :tears: I keep my guppies at about 28degrees, its a bit warmer than usual but I find it keeps disease away a bit better. I also find my females have babies every 3 weeks or so at that temp
Ismart120
Honestly, I've seen some pretty weird things - an adult (apparently healthy) black widow tetra that I was watching just stopped and floated to the bottom. dead. So, I wouldn't go blaming yourself in that sense, fish keeping can sometimes just be a real pain. Ira
Im not was just kinda sad about it thinking "oh no noob fail i killed my fishy" The other 3 are happy as so he might have been gone to begin with That would be a big W T F moment I had a healthy looking big common plec, I was watching him swim around a little then he stuck to the glass front of the tank. Stuck there for a minute then let a massive shower of bubbles out of his mouth, his stomach caved in, he slid backwards down the glass until his tank hit. Tipped over on his back and never moved again. Dead.
BomB191
ah so its a common thing fish randomly giving up off topic question should i get them a bubbler or is the tiny amount of bubbles from the filter enough?
SamH
Bubbles from the filter, or better yet the current from the filter breaking the surface, is fine
BomB191
i have a aqua one 200 hang on filter and if the tanks nice and full (where i like it) theirs almost no bubbles/splashing but when its low there it
critter_crazy
I use the aqua one 300 filter and I find the guppies really enjoy the current when the water levels a tad lower than the filter It is a pain when you want the tank full though.
